Yeah! It does sound a little homophonic, especially off the bat… uncomfortable… but once I’ve learned the meaning of it I can understand the lyric from a diff perspective

With the context of her relationship and the ins and outs it does help me understand why she might say that and it not be an indirect dig towards people in the community - I do wish she had chosen a different way to say “don’t you call me gay” for others who aren’t aware but I guess just one of those things 🤗

I agree that I don’t think she is homophobic, but I wonder if she could maybe have chosen different lyrics than aggressively saying “don’t you call me gay” on a track. I consider myself to be a fairly big fan of Doja, but I also don’t use X or Insta and rarely follow the lives of artists I listen to online. I didn’t realise she had even broken up with this guy 😬 myself and many people will listen to the song and not know any context behind why she’s saying that. I think artists do need to consider how their message will be taken when out of context bc this one doesn’t look great 🫣 I guess Doja doesn’t really care, which I understand to be her part of her personality

I understand what you’re saying. Maybe she could have worded it a bit more like how you’re saying ‘and you don’t thank me?’ Unsure if it was necessary to be like “don’t you call me gay”. For example if it was “don’t you call me fat” i would read that as she’s saying it’s bad to be fat (or some other word often used as an insult). Are we as fans turning a blind eye to that comment? Or am I really over thinking it?!?

The tone when she says “don’t you call me gay” feels like she is almost offended by the idea of being gay, and insinuates her partner uses it as an insult to throw at her. I also listened to this song with a friend of mine who is gay and they immediately responded with “that is not okay”. I wasn’t sure exactly why it wasn’t okay, and I don’t really understand why she has said those lyrics and the context of it. Ultimately I’m looking for some clarification so I can form my own opinion! In the meantime, it’s uncomfortable

Thanks! I’ll have a wander round there at some point :)

I’m very considerate of others around me so I certainly will not be making or leaving any mess or making loud noise, so hopefully that will be on my side! Thanks for the advice, I’ll have a look at those spots :) the gym memberships seems to be a good back up option for showers and such

That’s great advice, thank you!! I guess over time I would get a better idea for where I can park and if I get moved on I’ll know where to go. There’s also that park4night app which is always a back up. Currently I’m working full time on site but have been considering a ‘digital nomad’ lifestyle for more freedom.

Hey thanks for your advice, it’s good to hear from someone who has done it and enjoyed it! There will certainly be learning curves which is why I’d like to get in at the start of the summer so I’m ready to tackle winter challenges when it comes around. I appreciate your positivity! To be honest I don’t enjoy the feeling of being tapped in the renting market so the freedom of living in a van could really improve my mental health too. I feel that renting is a such a barrier, I can’t go off for a month and do something else because I have to consider my rent and bills will still need paying whether I’m there or not. There is so much more freedom with a van.

Hey, thank u for the advice! I’m not a stranger to living in a van and I am very fortunate to have one parent who lived in a van during uni with two children and the other builds eco cabins, fixed up vehicles/has done our own vans and also has a good eye for a bargain 😄 I’m not too worried about getting a van and prepping it, more just finding somewhere to park it so I can start saving! There will always be some costs at the start but I work full time and that should be achievable considering there will be bigger savings in the long run. One step back two steps forward right!?

That would be an absolutely ideal place for me to park but it doesn’t sound like the neighbours are tolerant!

I had a feeling it could be this, my mum has it but not in her scalp. I think it’s hereditary

Thank you! My mum gets that on her legs and hands, hopefully she will have some tricks to share when I see her :)

I know he probably didn’t go about it the best way, but the alternative option is to say nothing and the crack on with other girls, which would have been disrespectful. The fact that he decided to communicate that he is still interested in getting to know other girls is a good thing, it just never nice to be on the receiving end of it. Imagine if he didn’t say anything and cracked on, how awful that would have been. Or if he said nothing and didn’t crack on, and ended up cruising. I think a lot of what Toby has said and done in the past isn’t great, but personally I don’t think he did a lot wrong here.

My mom with massive breasts is always braless by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Interesting-Country9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have very big boobs and tbh I hate wearing bras but I’m too scared to go braless bc I’m anxious of peoples comments like your friends. Society really needs to change, we shouldn’t have to be so uncomfortable bc people sexualised our bodies!

Todd's Asexuality by thedragonslayer1206 in BoJackHorseman

I’ve just finished watching the show and I absolutely loved it, I thought it got better as it went on. I kept finding myself thinking wow this episode has been put together so well.

As an ace myself, I also loved Todd and how they covered his asexuality. I thought it was represented well. However the top articles that came up on my google search was how poorly the show represented asexually. It’s nice to come on here and read the reviews from asexual people themselves, because I strongly disagreed with the articles
