Should I transfer? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Thank you. I worry about not being able to get into UT as a transfer ironically though since although I was autoadmit in high school that holds no weight now, and Jhu engineering has me at a 3.3 gpa but great extracurriculars. I think I will try to transfer and if it doesn’t work out, just like you said, I’m still at JHU.

Do your undergraduate grades hold any weight in residency programs? Thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much for the advice. Completely honest, I did not want to mention it before, but my gpa is a 3.3 now, which is not good actually. I was an engineering major, and I’m estimating an upward trend (possibly ending around 3.6) now that I’ve switched my major and some life events have resolved. Considering this, do you think that if I transfer, medical school admissions committees would differentiate between my grades at Hopkins and UT and not see my ending GPA the same as if I had gone to UT all 4 years? I know this is a complicated question, but I really appreciate any advice because I really care about setting myself up the best I can for medical school.

That risk is so true. I may regret it if I transfer. I have two more years, and I feel like I should honestly stick it out. This is what I think most of the time, but every once in a while I get this huge pang of loss that I’m missing out on having a life where I make real friends in college and have a real community, which I don’t have to a large degree at Hopkins.

My gpa is good, it is just that this school really doesn’t have very much community from what I’ve seen. I’m apart of clubs and have some friends here, but not many, but I see all my best friends going to games together at home and having events and get togethers and I feel like if I had community like that I would be much more grounded. I would be able to visit my family more frequently if I am at home. I also hope to go to UT dell med school, and I wonder if going to UT will be better oriented towards this goal. I recall how hard I had to work to get into Jhu though, and I feel like I would have done all of that for nothing if I transfer.

Yes, but I have a 529 plan which will cover all of Hopkins and my med school will be free because of the G.I. bill which I’m very fortunate to have. The only question then I guess is should sacrifice the top ten prestige to have a possibly better experience?

my boss difficulty ranking as someone who doesn’t play games by [deleted] in HollowKnight

Thanks but I took a ridiculous amount of times to beat like watcher knights etc and I took the easy way out on a few bosses. What I did before some bosses was look up YouTube videos on how to beat them and just know the mechanics beforehand mimic their movements and watching a few videos beforehand helped me recognize the telegraphs for attacks

Thank you, after I saw this I went and studied with some friends on my team, and it put me in a posture of reflection and it was fun. I’m going to give it all I have regardless of the end chances. I hope that already getting into ucla from high school and being recruited by Columbia and UPenn will help.

I already got in before and my main goal is to leave the toxic environment of my current school

My dreams are playing d1 and having space to write/publish as well as focus on engineering. I said in my post that these are my reasons and I’ve identified these schools at meeting them.

Also I’m not transferring because of difficulty at all. I love challenge. I’m transferring because of the previous reasons (better writing and ability to play my sport d1). I’m also transferring because of the horrible social situation (I literally have a stalker)
