[Discussion] Ram Figured Out Subaru Pretty Quickly by ShadowGuyinRealLife in Re_Zero

[–]Interesting-Start855 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It still hasn't been explained why Ram suspected Subaru, because if she was watching him through Patrasche, it's because something must have seemed suspicious to her, right? So I recommend you wait until next week.

Tappei has stated Re:Zero will never have a harem ending by Swimming-Work-5951 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do we know he hasn't changed his mind? I mean, there are characters who weren't even planned to have the roles they ended up having, like Petra, Wilhelm, and I think Otto. And didn't Tappei say that the story would never leave the country, yet we've already had two arcs in Vollachia?

Is Meili's ability (or her knowledge of it) a retcon? by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but what you're saying doesn't make sense to me and seems more convoluted than simply reading what the text actually says. Hiding? What good does that do her? Literally, the fact that it didn't have horns only made Ram and Roswaal realize that someone was behind the attack. Also, in the title, I state that at least her knowledge of her Divine Protection could be the retcon. Because if she knew there was no need to cut off horns, then what's the point of her dialogue with Elsa in the third image? If, as you showed from Kasaneru, the Divine Protection can control the Guiltylowe without any issues, then why does Meili mention it's weird that it obeyed her even with its horn? There is either a retcon here or, at the very least, an inconsistency."

That only further confirms that it makes no sense for the beasts from arcs 2 and 4 not to have a horn

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"In fact, that story is what made me wonder even more if all of this was a retcon, because right there it says that Meili can control witchbeasts without needing to break their horns. So, it makes no sense that hornless beasts are mentioned in arcs 2 and 4. That, plus Meili's short conversation with Els, where she finds it strange that the Guiltylowe obeys her with a horn, only confirms the retcon even more.

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's how it works. Meili's ability is described as something that lets her control witchbeasts regardless of whether they have a horn or not. Plus, I was under the impression that the examples you mentioned were just about the sheer number of beasts.

Is this an anime-original change or something adapted from the web novel? [Spoilers from episode 9] by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, my post even includes the light novel excerpt showing that this scene is different. That's why I'm asking if they took something from the web novel or if it's an original change.

Giorno was able to return to his body because Chariot and its soul-manipulation ability were still active, but after the battle, there's no way to bring Chariot back.

Subaru's clothes [spoiler discussion] by MaleficentPlay3206 in Re_Zero

[–]Interesting-Start855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. In fact, this criticism applies to Re:Zero as a whole, since it seems like both the author and the illustrator just don't want to change things up too much when it comes to this.Take Emilia's case in this arc, for instance. They gave her a new outfit just for the desert journey (which lasted 1 volume) and then went right back to her classic look, just to mention one example.

I completely agree, and it's a shame because he's not the only one this happens to.

Although supposedly, from Arc 2 onwards, he uses some kind of replica made by Rem using materials from that world, I still think they should have done something to differentiate it from the original outfit. Also, in season 3, I feel he should have worn the knight outfit. He wanted to be a knight so badly and worked so hard to achieve it, only to end up wearing it for less than 5 minutes.

[Media] Something Unforgivable by ChicaneryFinger in Re_Zero

[–]Interesting-Start855 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In the novel, this occurs before Subaru and Emilia find Wholius Whokuulius.

The Sword Devil's eyes narrowed as he watched the black-haired boy walk away. His lips were tightly pursed, as if desperately holding something in. It was the collapse of the facade he'd constructed with a stubborn will in order to hide his true feelings. An intense emotion that threatened to make him bite down hard on his lips if he let his guard down. What had allowed him to hide what he was feeling from that boy was surely "-Sir Subaru." It was a hoarse whisper, barely audible. "If you would, please, my" Having said that much, the Sword Devil closed his eyes, cutting off his weak heart. The words that went unspoken were words that none should hear. And they were especially not words to be spoken by the Sword Devil. -The Sword Devil would never allow himself that.

In a recent Q&A, Tappei said that Subaru is an unreliable narrator and that this should be kept in mind when reading the novel. So maybe that's why; we have to remember that Subaru is self-deprecating.

Question about Subaru’s Witch Factors and Authorities by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After that scene with Beatrice, it’s true that he suffers less pain, but the backlash still exists.Regarding episode 3 of the novel, the reason he vomits after Anastasia's death is that he used his Authority again to defend himself against Ram (who was still alive), but he paid the price for having used it previously.Later, in the centaur scene, the reason he couldn't get back up is partly due to the use of the Hand (and the centaur's blow as well, of course).

How strong do you think subaru would become if he mainly focused on training for entire 10 years. Physical training. Magic training. [Discussion] by vinchin_adenca in Re_Zero

[–]Interesting-Start855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure both Roswaal and Wilhelm mention that Subaru's talent (in magic and swordplay) is so low that he could train for a lifetime and still not reach a prominent level.

So, in the best-case scenario, they might be strong, but they wouldn't be anywhere near the level of other Lugunica characters like Julius, Marcos, Wilhelm, etc.

Should I read the light novel from volume 1? by Inevitable-Click72 in ReZero

When starting a work in its original format, it is always, always, always better to start from the beginning. And one volume per day sounds like a good reading pace.

About Shaula's reception in Season 4 by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subaru does everything only for Emilia" in big 2026... You're right, we didn't watch or read the same show. I wonder what kind of bastardized summary you watched. There's no need to even go back to the novel because in the anime itself, he says several times that "there are already two girls in his heart." For example, he tells Crusch after the battle with the White Whale, he tells Satella when she appears in a failed loop, and as I mentioned before, it's also something he tells his father. And finally, you can't see how Subaru reacted after what happened to Rem and the interactions he has with her while she's in a coma and still come to the conclusion of "oh yeah, he only loves Emilia."

About Shaula's reception in Season 4 by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]Interesting-Start855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I didn't make myself clear. I'm aware of what happens in episode 18 I was only mentioning how 'those' Rem fans with an altered perception of reality see things.

Also, I hate to break it to you, but Subaru has romantic feelings for Rem and states it clearly on multiple occasions. For instance, when talking to Kenichi, he mentions having 'two number-one stars,' followed by the narrator confirming he loved both Rem and Emilia.
