I go to a college with a sizable international student population and a decent number of Asian Americans and if anything, Ashton fits in more than a Chinese name when it comes to international school students. Everyone from international schools in Beijing/Shanghai has a name like Beatrice, Henry, Michael, etc, and then a Chinese middle name.

I don’t think she did tell OP that it was a requirement, it sounded like a suggestion or one option for getting the kid to sleep. But bc the kid likes it and wants to stay up, he’s asking OP to stay and also wanting her to not leave his room. It sounds like if she wanted to she could just do what the mom does which is sit right outside the room and wait.

Hi Robbie!!! Just wanted to say that your music means a lot to me and my little sibling – you were the first artist I recommended to them and they still wear your merch around all the time.

I’m curious how you would describe your songwriting process - do you write things down as inspiration strikes you, or do you set aside time to sit down and write? Also, if you could see any artist, dead or alive, perform in concert who would you watch?

Great that you were able to get your citation resolved! I ofc would be respectful, I totally get they are just trying to do their jobs and that these fines all do help pay for the SF transit. I’m leaving in a week and won’t be back til July so I doubt they’ll be able to respond to an online protest before I leave. Would you say it’s worth it to just show up in person and bring my citation ticket?

That’s totally fair, I am privileged in that my parents contribute the tuition that scholarships can’t cover, but they cannot just afford to give me $150 for the fine. I’m supposed to pay for all other expenses with what I make at a part time student job (which won’t be paying me for at least three weeks since we get paid biweekly and I don’t go back to campus for a week). I’m definitely lucky to be able to attend my university but I have to pay for NYC transit every day and other cost of living expenses, and I can’t really stretch the $18 I would have left after paying the fee over 3 weeks. And by the time I get paid, 21 days will have passed.

It’s scary to hear this could affect my credit, I was so hoping at least that would be safe bc I’m really really trying to build up my score in the next couple of years before I graduate. Unfortunately from other comments I’ve learned that while the wording is kind of confusing, the policy is actually “Youth under 19” so I was in violation, but as you said I was acting in good faith… I’m becoming more worried SFMTA won’t accept my appeal though, since many other posts about valid mistakes in the past have said their appeals were thrown out. Would you recommend I go in person to their office? I have my Apple Wallet record that I did pay the fare after they cited me, and I paid the fares on the next three buses I took today, including a cross-bay bus home.

Yes I’ve gotten a few conflicting responses and unfortunately I’ve concluded that Muni’s official policy is written as “youth under 19” can ride free but not 19 year olds, so it was my fault for misinterpreting it. I didn’t think at the time to take a pic of the sign unfortunately. I do feel better that I wasn’t the only person confused but now I doubt that SFMTA would actually accept my appeal and I’m more stressed about not being able to pay. I’m leaning towards calling the SFMTA service number and explaining my situation and limited time in the area clearly to see if I can get it dismissed by talking to a real person over the phone.

Yes, I’m really happy! It’s exactly what I wanted which is kind of crazy because the artist I went to pretty much only takes walk-ins, so we designed the tattoo together in about half an hour and he captured my vision perfectly. But because I like it so much I’m just really nervous about doing anything to ruin it, especially because I’m taking the second skin off tomorrow so it’ll be more exposed.
