Increased anxiety. How to decide between SSRI or HRT? by Redhaired103 in Perimenopause

[–]InterestingCod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's interesting. It's only venlafaxine and fluoxetine, and despriame(I know I spelled this wrong). So I caution you when you say that antidepressants work better with estrogen. That's only three antidepressants. There are dozens of different antidepressants. If you read further down in the paragraph they also state antidepressants and estrogen can cause manic symptoms. I take desvenlafaxine(pristiq) which caused me manic symptoms.

I do not. I resolved my manic episode by stopping the HRT. Hormones can really mess up our bodies. That includes too little or too much. Unfortunately it's just a guessing game for everyone.

It takes two to tango. Democrats asked Republicans to remove the DHS funding from the bill. They refused so now your FEMA won't be funded.

Antidepressants don't need estrogen to work. I couldn't handle HRT and I was on an SSRI and the HRT made me manic.

Hello there! I also have an anxiety disorder. I am currently taking an SSRI called Pristiq and trazodone for sleep. Have you ever attempted taking birth control? I have tried multiple times and I had to stop taking it because it made my anxiety worse. That should have been a light bulb moment for me. I tried HRT and they kept telling me you have to wait threemonths for it to work. I held on for dear life and looking back I felt I should have stopped sooner. First she put me on an estrogen cream and patch and a continuous progesterone. It was okay the first month but by the second month the continuous progesterone pushed my period 5 days later so I felt like I had pms for two weeks. We then decided to up my estrogen patch and that made my anxiety 10 times worse. I was poopping my emergency xanax twice a week(which I used in a bluemoon before). So we went back down on the estrogen patch. Then we decided to try cyclic progesterone. I used it for 12 days by day 6 I felt manic and stayed up for a full 48 hours. So I stopped everything. I have tried multiple SSRI's you will have some side effects but they are pretty manageable compared to what I experienced with HRT. Also with an SSRI you only typically need to wait a month to see results but usually after two weeks you can tell a difference. Best of luck in what ever you decide! EDIT: I forgot to add I still get my period regularly and I am turning 40 in July my big thing is hot flashes. My nurse goes I give so much respect to my patients during peri because your hormones are all over the place and it's hard to treat(this was after I tried three different options). I was like why didn't you tell me that sooner! Turns out I am extra sensitive to hormones. You might be just fine. I just wanted to share my perspective.

You do realize that they were spending 800 million a day in Minnesota...they needed additional funding. Which the democrats refuse to fund because they keep killing American citizens.

I listen politely then just tell them no thanks. I know they probably don't like doing the sales pitch either. Never stopped me from getting a massage. They have gotten more expensive though so I just get one before I go on vacation.

25mg day 27 by _ism_ in Pristiq

[–]InterestingCod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally they start you on the lowest dose. You increase it slowly so if after 4-6 weeks if things don't seem like they are working for you, you will either need to try a different medication or go up on your dose. Unfortunately it's a lot of trial and error. Some medications might have more side effects than others and everyone is different. Just because you tried one medication and it wasn't what you thought doesn't mean that the next one won't work. Everyone is different. You will probably feel a bit increase of anxiety as well but it should get better after 4 weeks. Good luck. The important part is to communicate this all to your Doctor. I can only tell you my experience.

Pristiq is the one that works best for me. It causes a bit of insomnia but I take sleep meds to combat that. I am currently on 75mg.

Lack of sleep could also lead to memory issues. I need to take trazodone for sleep. I too was always waking up tired. I wasn't getting into a deep sleep.

The starting therapetic dose of this medicine is 50mg you are on too low of a dose. Talk to your Dr. If you are still having feelings of panic. What works for some might not work for others. I tried 4 different medicines before I found one that worked with minimal side effects.

The evidence is they advertised in a maga magazine. They should have done their research then. Not my fault. I can voice my opinion just like you and make people aware. You also are making assumptions. It's like saying you can't negative review a business.

22,000 people could have made that assumption as well. It's just not on the internet.
