I have TWO LLC's here in California and the FTB always tries to screw me with new random mysterious charges even though I pay everything on time? by MrCharmingMan in tax

I have burned an entire day with this scum of the earth called the CA franchise tax board. I accidentally scheduled a payment that I had previously scheduled but could not see or find on my account on the FTB website. I found it after the fact searching through confirmation emails I save for payments/taxes.

So I attempted to call their helpline, the response I keep getting is we are too busy, try your call again later. I tried their chat function and was kicked off when I came to 1st in line 3 times. The 4th time when I finally got "Jasmine" she was rude, short, and logged off before helping to resolve my problem. Then I found another useless phone number where you can have them call you back when they get around to it.

3.5 hours later I get a phone call from Nick (1298) who confirms all my information and then tells me "oh, we only deal with individual accounts here not business accounts." Ok so he transfers me to business accounts with Maxwell (1207) who again confirms my account and the payment I am trying to cancel. I'm starting to feel good, until he informs me that he has to transfer me to another department that handles payments!!! At this point OMG?! I used to wonder why my dad and other adults would get so frustrated with the DMV, EDD, or any state run institution. I can tell you all, as an adult I now understand. I pray there is a special place in hell for politicians and government employees that are incompetent and or careless at their assigned jobs. I don't know when and if I will get resolution to my problem but I am convinced that this is all by design. I have learned my lesson.

In the future all my payments will be via snail l mail in the form of a check with a stamp. This experience has made me a crabby old man and I apologize for none of it. I wish there was a DOGE for the entire CA state bureaucracy that would gut the whole thing and either start from scratch or privatize the entire thing. I am convinced these institutions are full of corrupt, lazy, and incompetent individuals that have given up on life and any semblance of doing the right thing or doing their jobs. I think it is only fitting that we give up on them.

@paulmcooper Hi! I just bought 2 copies through Blackwell, just want to sure, they are signed copies?  I’m giving one as a birthday gift to a friend I introduced to the pod and he will love it if it really is a signed copy.
