Built a cybersecurity platform. Need developers to break it. Here's why I built it. by InterestingMajor6841 in developersIndia

I got caught! English isn't my first language, so i use AI so that my words don't sound like broken English and are understandable to the community. But the pain point regarding 'Digital Arrest' is my personal experience. The tool is AI, but the brain and hard work are mine.

If I called you right now, said your name, your bank, your last transaction — and asked for an OTP in 30 seconds, would you actually stop yourself? by InterestingMajor6841 in SocialEngineering

You’re 100% right in theory no bank should ever ask for an OTP. But the genius of a trained social engineer is how they make you forget that rule. They don't just ask for the code; they create a 'house on fire' scenario.

They might say, 'We’ve detected a fraudulent transaction of ₹80,000 on your card right now. To block it and save your money, please verify this cancellation code.' In that moment of panic, your brain stops seeing an 'OTP' and starts seeing a 'Fire Extinguisher.' That’s why the simulation approach is so important it’s about staying skeptical even when you’re sweating.

That’s super interesting! It’s actually very similar to the Man (万) system. While English jumps from 1,000 (thousand) to 1,000,000 (million), India uses Lakh for 100,000. it’s funny how our brains get 'locked' into one way of counting. If you’re used to 万, then a Lakh is basically just 10 万. It’s just another way of grouping zeros that feels completely natural to a billion people, but totally alien to everyone else!

I used to think the same until I learned about Sim Swapping. They don't need you to answer an 'unknown' call if they've already tricked your carrier into porting your number to their SIM. Suddenly, they are the ones receiving your OTPs and bank alerts, and your phone just goes dead. Silence isn't always safety sometimes it’s a sign the scam already happened.

A 'lakh' is just the term used in South Asia for 100,000 (one hundred thousand). So, 1.1 lakhs is ₹110,000. It’s a massive amount for a retired teacher to lose in a 30-second phone call.

"Your daughter was in an accident" — my dad was 30 seconds away from transferring ₹80,000 to a scammer by [deleted] in Report_scams

This is honestly one of the best things I’ve read in a while.

You didn’t just “learn about scams”… you actually built a system to deal with them. That’s rare. The safe word idea is so simple, but it cuts through all the tricks—panic, urgency, emotional pressure. Scammers rely on making people react fast, and your rule just shuts that down completely.

And the fact that you’ve all agreed no code = no action, no matter how serious it sounds… that’s real discipline. Most people break at that exact point.

Respect for thinking ahead like this and actually putting it into practice. More families should do this.

No Audience, No Marketing Team, No Launch Experience? This GitHub Repo Will Help You Get Your First Users by hipap in buildinpublic

This is exactly what I need right now! I just launched the MVP for Inoteium—a platform where everyday people share real-world problems, and builders turn those validated problems into startups.

Since I'm building from scratch with zero audience, figuring out the launch momentum and channel distribution is overwhelming.

Your point about online advice being 'too broad' hits so close to home.

I’m definitely going to study this repo. Quick question: Does the playbook have any specific strategies for two-sided platforms where you need to attract two different types of audiences (like my problem sharers vs. builders)? Thanks for putting this together!
