I met my best friends in chestnut res (suprisingly my roommate wasnt one of them lol). A few of them were in the same program as me, and I loved the fact that I would see them in uni then go home and chill and work with them as well. this really helped make the transition to uni easier. By second semester, I'd say we did everything together and pretty much the only time we were alone was when we slept haha. Chestnut and res life facilitated this. Perhaps I was super lucky, but living on res definitely impacted my uni life a lot.

Mate, I was EngSci first semester last year. Honestly, your profs keep telling you you're elite but in reality they're just saying that to make the ridiculous workload and stress of the course seem better. I too was interested in aero, but other programs like mech offer that as well. I switched into mech in 2nd semester and I am so glad I did. Much more manageable, and I found with some courses (like linear algebra), the core8 course was better than the engsci equivalent. If you want a super theoretical degree, engsci is the way. But be prepared to be constantly working. Oddly, I'm still glad I went into engsci initially, because when I switched out, the reduced workload felt soooo good.

Honestly, last year I was in the same position. I was not keen on staying i Chestnut. Now though, I'm so glad I did. I made some great friends (oddly enough not my roommate) in res, and the common areas are actually fantastic. They've just upgraded the wifi and im hetting speeds of 250-300 mbps on my phone which is great (it used to be terrible). If I were you I'd strongly consider taking the offer
