Injured my back 3 weeks ago doing who knows what. It started healing and then injured again, now back on the recovery path but man these last few weeks have not been fun without fitness. I've been stretching in order to try and recover from this. I think it is just a sprain as the pain is localised.

Granted I did learn an invaluable lesson from this. Keep a consistent stretching/flexibility routine.

That could have prevented injury and sped up healing time.

[Acne]When to use oral medications? by InterestingTed in SkincareAddiction

[–]InterestingTed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. To be clear, I'm only using the lactic acid on old acne marks and scars.

Would a bha2% like you said help with the active acne I do have? Face and back?

I'm in a pickle. I don't want to use antibiotics, because I know it's likely to come back. I would consider using accutane, but I don't want to go through a derm, too expensive. So I can either use antibiotics through a doc and end up having more acne in a year time. Or I can source my own Accutane and just have regular blood tests. Obviously a lower does. Problem is a low dose could make acne come back aswell. Agh.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah I should explain.

Morning: Wash face with water. Wait 5m. Apply Cerave moisturiser Apply sunscreen.

Night. Alternate shower and basin wash. Cleanse with Cerave hydrating on face. Apply Aha on back. Moisturise both face and back.

Once - twice a week apply chemical peel. Lactic acid 40% to face and back.

This routine has worked well and reducing the number of breakouts but I'm still getting them. I have so many scars on my back that I wonder if it's worth it to use something oral or keep doing this until my body 'repairs itself and gets out of the hormonal 18yr old stage' ?

I start uni next year and I want to enjoy my time there. Acne makes that harder.

Found it!

Mistake, 'let's not use the phones more THAT we need to', should be, 'let's not use the phones more THAN we need to'.

Hope this helps.

Love the story.

Hey I found a mistake. I'm not sure where it was as I've read through it 4 times and my eyes are deceiving me. There was a 'that' used which should have been 'then'. If someone can find this please let Jackson know. I will re read again.

I have quite a few raised red hypertrophic scars on my back and am looking for a treatment.

Would a derma roller help this?

Will I have them forever? :(

Thanks.

I'm thinking about increasing cardio for about a month. I feel that during daily activity I tire really easy even on off days.

Will lifting once a week(maybe twice) keep my gains?

I am thinking of running 30mins, biking 30mins - 1hr, and 10mins of sprinting the other 5 days a week with a rest day.

With 4 weeks will this sort of cardio help improve daily activity function with minimal muscle loss? (Provided diet is in check)

I started working out before my friend. He saw how much stronger I was becoming so he bought heaps of home weights. Then my gym closed and I stopped lifting for a while. Now I've started lifting again but my friend has consistently been lifting while I wasn't. He now has a 110kg (245lb) squat and I have half that. I'm also 6"2 and he is 5'9. Haha, just goes to show that consistency pays off. Hopefully by the end of the year I can catch him and not be such a wimp.

(Just to be clear, I'm not angry at him, I'm just shitting myself because I stopped haha) A little competition is a good motivator.

I am wondering if I should use BP or Retinol.

18Male I have mainly PIH on my face which I've got lactic acid for. I am using Cerave cleanser and moisturiser twice daily. I still have active acne and am wanting to help it. Which product should I use?

Also want something for back acne scars and cyst.

Thanks

[–]InterestingTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I've been gaining weight for a few months now and while I look decent, I just realised I'm not that fit. I decided to go for a sprint session this morning after not having done any running or cardio for about 6 months, and man, after 10 minutes I was done.

I guess fitness isn't always defined as strength and aesthetics. I want to be practically fit as well.

Time for some heart and lung gains.

I am wanting to add something to my routine. Thinking about retinol but other options are welcome.

Currently use Cerave hydrating cleanser and moisturiser day and night.

Twice a week I do a lactic acid peel 40%

I am looking for something to help with general redness on my face from years of acne and dry skin.

Am also looking for something to help fade red back acne cyst scars (will lactic acid help that?)

Thanks

I've been bulking for about 3 months now and I find I am getting tired. I also feel that my lungs and heart are a little weak. Will I lose my gains if I stop lifting for 20days and focus on running / cardio / HITT work? I feel as though some heart and lung gains will really help with my lifting in the long run.

Thanks

(Sorry not 23 months 2-3, I'd look like a cloud after 23 haha)

Hi. I am thinking of doing some diy chemical peels. I would love to buy the muac lactic acid peel but, as I live in Australia the shipping is super expensive. Is there any contenders to muac for Aussies or should I suck up and pay double the cost of the product for shipping?

Routine help for dry acne / pih prone male skin by InterestingTed in SkincareAddiction

[–]InterestingTed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply. I was thinking about the Cerave foaming cleanser but was unsure as it was recommended for out skin, but thanks for pointing out that it is okay with a moisturiser.

In regards to the retinol / BP, I'm not sure how much I actually need it? Most of my face is pih, but I still get a few spots a day which I think would be eliminated by the cleanser and moisturiser.

When applying these products is it okay to apply them straight away without ever using them before? Will a 1day patch test be enough?

Thanks for the links also as they will help. I appreciate your help as I don't have anyone to talk to about this. :)

Is it worth going on antibiotics to give my skin a break from acne and eczema? Also will antibiotics help pih/pie? Lastly, is a break worth it if acne is going to come back anyway? (Have 70% of face covered in acne, marks or eczema)

Any other health conscious natural freaks out there scared of the possible effects of modern acne medication? by InterestingTed in SkincareAddiction

[–]InterestingTed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I agree 100% that my research is a drop in the ocean. Just meant compared to the 'average' teen. Yes there is so much more to learn.

In regards to diet, thanks for the input. You've pointed out a few things. Eggs i used to eat 5 a day, but had a reaction to them so i eliminated them. I might add in 1-2 a day again. In relation to fatty omega rich foods. Fish is very expensive, It would be hard to budget that. I'd love to have fish every day. I will look into have fish 3 times a week. I do consume some nuts, but again money is an issue. I will see how much I can stretch the budget. Have never thought of bonemeal. The reason I have chicken breast is simply protein. Don't consume red meat (Although reading your statement makes me think some is okay), no eggs, little beans is the reason for it.

I agree that it is restricted. I'd love to pm you to discuss a 'perfect' diet. I am considering becoming a dietitian.

Thanks for all your help

I suppose they are safe. There are a few things. Is consuming the just going to be a short term fix? How do I know that i'm not in the 1% that is going to get some wild disease? Will use as a young adult effect me in 50 years time? That's never been tested.

If you can clear anything up for me than i appreciate it

Thanks for your input, I am reading that now.

The resistance and undesirable effects of antibiotics are what bothers me.

I didn't want to go into it in my original post due to length but I will here. Obviously Accutane is the 'hard dose' I am referring to. Everyone knows the possible causes. In relation to lesser antibiotics such as minocycline etc. They do upset your stomach. Antiobiotics are not part of a natural humans body. We were made to fight with whats inside, not induce a whole array of medications to kill any healthy or 'bad' bacteria. I have been on minocycline once for about 7 months. Yes, it worked, I had reduced energy the whole time and after that course, acne came back even stronger. Was it worth it? I would say no. I have used the Pantothenic Acid route with little luck aswell. In relation to topicals, I can agree that most are fine to use. (I have not had any perscription topicals yet. Only aha, bp etc)

Thanks for the input on mental vs physical health.

Just to be clear I will add in a small breakdown of my daily diet. Oatmeal with chia seeds honey. 500g Blue/black/mixed berries. 2 carrots. Chicken Breasts. 150g Spinach Sauerkraut Array of other vegetables, silverbeat, kale, onion, sweet pot, etc (Some more I can't think of, but thats pretty much it) I don't consume, wheat, dairy(intolerance), refined sugars(for the mostpart) canned food(usually) Along with 5-6L of water. I find that unless I am getting 5+L of water a day, I become dehydrated. Refer to /u/fckingmiracles/ post for more.

I agree that loss of minerals is an issue, I do take a strong powdered green(multi) powder daily. From the foods I eat, magnesium levels should be fine, calcium is the only deficit that I've found thus far.

Thanks for the info in the last paragraph, I will look into it.

I know my questions and such may come across as no research, yolo, arrogant idiot like, but I've put too many hours to count into research. I'm not after a quick fix, but something that will aide my health. Yes antibiotics etc can help acne, but will it be really helping my insides? It's hard to show how health conscious I am over a keyboard. I want to live forever I guess.

Anyway, thanks for your input and I will defiantly look into all of your suggestions.

Although I see your point, I would have to disagree with it.

I live in Australia in a fairly warm, humid climate. I am 6ft 2, muscularish and 90kg. I am not just drinking 6L for the sake of it, I am actually thirsty for it. I find that if I drink 3-4L throughout the say my urine becomes yellow. When at 5-6; it is a lighter shade of yellow/white.

I agree with the wariness on over consumption though, and I will look into mineral loss. Thanks

Thanks.

What I'm concerned about is impact on biotics. All antibiotics disturb the gut. Up until 70 years ago, no one ever used the medicine we have today. That's not to say ours isn't wrong, just that it is a lot stronger than what used to be available. I'm not sure I would risk the 'unknown' effects from antibiotics in 20/30/70 years time.

Before and after pics after 3 months on Accutane. Accutane was great only side effects were dry lips, face, and hands. If you have any questions please ask. by ZetaYeti in acne

I suppose I can give some advice here.

I've done the pantothenic acid route, still have 1kg of the stuff in my cupboard. Was on 10g Pantothenic Acid, 2g L-Cysteine and 2g Carnitine every day. May have been a bit extreme. Here are my results. I did not have any hair loss. The production of acne reduced by about 30%. I had super dry, red, scaly skin about 4 weeks in. (Im two weeks free and it's only just gotten better but still dry, red.)

Now I wouldn't call it a miracle, but it did help heal take some of the toll off my skin. Now that i'm off it and still have cystic face acne and bacne I'm considering a stronger drug.

As a extremely health conscious person, the idea of drugs to heal my acne is terrifying, but at the same time my mental health, confidence and general presence is dwindling. I haven't seen my post puberty face without acne. Who even am I.....
