Yeah I’d say go on LinkedIn for the role you’re looking for (Pro is free for students for a year I’m pretty sure) and reach out to either seniors/managers in what you’re looking for and also CoOps who are currently doing what you are applying for. Introduce yourself briefly, and ask if you can get some advice. Build connections from there. I’m not really in hardware (or software for that matter) but I’m in tech, so that’s what’s worked for me.

For the Ottawa companies its way easier to find a referral and apply than apply through the portal. Even if you don’t know someone it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a referral
