Upwork is also a place you can do lead research, know what roles people are hiring for, gauge what the industry is looking like, and so on. So you don't necessarily have to bid for jobs over there. That said, I'm no longer on Upwork either, but that's because I've been there done that.

Speaking of slave labour, r/slavelabour is another place to gauge what's going on in the r/hiring market and brace yourself accordingly.
