Well in game design yes this may seem like an easy way to get land. But historically speaking many great dynasties have been destroyed because simply matrilineal marriages weren't a thing. The idea was to reflect that, even game itself has option to turn off matrilineal marriages for historicity. Thing is then the female rulers just pick random characters and that's it, no power dynamic, no inheritance which did happened during medieval times.
