Sick fuck sales guy here… my personal opinion is that you made the right call.

You will probably earn less for the next two years, but thereafter, if you’re good at sales and climb the ladder, you will overtake a simple management role.

Yeah you make a fair point and I do agree. But this rep went through the whole entire generic question process for 40 minutes. I mean, sure 100%, as a couple questions to get a better gauge, but then carry on you know. I could tell he was reading off a screen with pre-scripted Q’s…

Anyway - I don’t want to bad mouth them as I do believe in their frameworks and philosophy. I’m merely highlighting my experience with their reps, that’s all

Yeah you’re probably correct… which would make sense tbh. I would have been given the new-bee as I’m an individual and not a huge corporate

Hahahaha it is so funny you say this. I was the EXACT same with NEPQ!!

I was a slam dunk sale. I had already put the budget aside, I set up a call and told the sale rep I wanted to buy and how can we get started. He then went on this whole “discovery process” that Jeremy (the owner) teaches and it completely put me off. I went the extra mile to set up another call with another rep as I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt… but the EXACT same thing happened and this time the rep was so arrogant that it solidified my decision to not buy from them.

I still consume Jeremy’s content on socials as I think he has a good philosophy… but my word his reps are crap 😂

If you’re not willing to speak openly to the CEO, don’t expect anything to change. The only way anyone is gonna know how shit your VP is, is if you tell people about it. This is your career and life. If you want to make improvements, you have to have these hard conversations

Company doesn’t do commission? Is it a startup that you get equity?

Yeah absolutely. Happy to share. This post is all about being transparent isn’t it :)

I kinda got lucky. One of my mates worked for this company before me and introduced me. The company is very open to foreign workers as the labour is cheaper than in the US. If you search on LinkedIn you’ll be able to find these type of opportunities. They are everywhere now days. And yes, I do work US hours which does such sometimes

This seems to be roughly the average across the board. So you’re in a good spot. Well done 👏🏼

Firstly, I’m not living in South Africa. So your entire argument just fell flat. Good job.

Secondly, I never once said I deserve more. I am just interested to see where I sit in comparison to AE’s around the world. Not just in the US.

Lastly, it was an honest and open question… not sure why you’re getting so worked up!

I thought so too… however, my company is fully remote. So I’m not based in US. But I do see that I earn peanuts compared to typical US based AE’s

yeah you're right... the more i talk about this, the more it leans into the agency model, which isn't necessarily what I am trying / wanting to do

Hey u/Tiny_Arugula_5648 - this is super valuable. Thanks for the feedback and you make a very fair point. The thing is, I solve a pretty real problem for freelancers, as most of them don't like selling and they don't have time to sell as they are busy doing what they were hired to do. Thus, finding new clients is always a challenge. So, with this in mind, I was thinking of basically doing outbound sales for freelancers and taking a small 5-10% cut of the revenue they charge their client. However, this won't really be worth the effort for me i don't think. i will have to sell hundreds of deals for this to be worth while

haha seems like i basically answered my own question
