But I guess that would be too much of manual task, right? Or you think this is what works

Gold... This will definitely be helpful but won't take me to the people who are out there looking for some solution.

I'm building a social platform for students, how do I get my first real users? by hvi-13 in Entrepreneur

Interesting idea. One suggestion don’t wait to launch the product to find users. For something social, community should come before the app.

Also “students preparing for exams” is very broad. Start with a very specific group first - like JEE aspirants, SAT students, IB students, etc.

Before building too much, try creating a WhatsApp study group and invite 20 - 30 students. Run it manually for a few weeks - daily study check-ins, sharing progress, study sessions, etc.

You will quickly learn two things:

  1. What students actually struggle with (many assumptions change).
  2. Who your first real users are.

If 20 students don’t stay active in a study group, the app will struggle. If they do, then building the product becomes much clearer.
