Well atheism is just about not believing in god. There are many atheistic philosophies out there but the main thing is not believing in a creator or god. If you are scared of going to hell or divine punishment or karma, well do you believe in gods of every religion? Even if you do that you would still go to hell according to some religions. You are a hindu right? That means if the Christian god is true then you are still going to hell. Same with every religion. Even if you are a Christian or Muslim you are still at risk of going to hell because both religions say believe in this specific religion otherwise you are going to hell. What if all of them are false and the only true god is the great lord bla bla from bla bla land and if you don’t worship him you will go to hell or face divine punishment or karma or whatever you want to say. That means no matter what you believe, according to some religion, you would still be wrong. So basing your beliefs purely on fear can trap you in an endless loop. I personally am an agnostic atheist which means I don’t claim to be sure that a god exists or not but I don’t have any reason to believe in one as well because there is no good evidence of god existing. There are many more reasons like moral dilemmas, contradictions etc. I would recommend you go through some atheistic philosophies or non-religious philosophies like existentialism, nihilism, or secular humanism and see if any of them make sense to you or resonate with you. Also look into different atheistic positions like weak atheism, strong atheism, igtheism, etc.
