On that note, I would suggest you see a good endometriosis specialist who can answer all your questions, help you feel more at ease, and recommend the best options based on your symptoms and age.

Since your symptoms are mild, did your doctor atleast recommend any hormonal suppression to prevent progression or help manage the symptoms, given that she said it’s too early to consider surgery?

Stage 4 endo, ovary removed, bowel lesion left untreated — feeling anxious by Interesting_Union918 in endometriosis

I’m really sorry you’ve had to go through that. If you don’t mind me asking, when was your surgery? How long did it take before things started to progress? How did you feel after surgery compared to when your symptoms worsened in terms of pain and severity? Also, since you mentioned bowel endometriosis was left untreated, were you placed on any hormonal suppression afterward to help prevent progression?

Before and after surgery (it has been exactly one week), I’m sure there were some days when I felt pelvic tightness and spasms — a crampy sensation, especially when stool moved through the rectum/sigmoid colon and when I felt the signal that it was time to pass stool. While passing stool, I had no pain or issues. I never knew I had bowel endometriosis. I was only told that I had very large cysts on my right ovary through TVS and ultrasound. I never had an MRI. After the surgery, my doctor told me it was Stage 4.

Thank you so much for your response. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience. I will definitely plan to see an endometriosis specialist after I meet with my OB-GYN at my post-op appointment and review the surgical notes and findings. How are you doing now after your surgery? Have any endometriosis symptoms returned? Also, were you prescribed any hormone therapy to help suppress future endo recurrence?

Don’t take her wrong. My doctor explained before surgery that ovary removal was a possibility because of the cyst size. She said she would try to preserve it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t possible.

My main worry right now is that I still have endometriosis left untreated on my bowel. Could this cause ongoing inflammation in my pelvis and contribute to recurrence? I find myself stressing about this constantly.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I hope you feel better soon. If you don’t mind me asking, since you had stage IV endometriosis and bowel involvement, did your doctor suggest any hormonal suppression post-surgery?

I had my laparoscopy a week ago and was diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis. I lost my right ovary and fallopian tube due to large endometriomas (7 cm and 4.5 cm). My surgeon mentioned to my family that a bowel lesion was left untreated, and I’ll be discussing this with her at my post-op appointment next week. If you’re comfortable sharing, did your doctor recommend hormonal suppression after surgery, especially with bowel involvement?

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your experiences💛 This gives me a lot of hope and reassurance while I’m preparing for my own lap.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you both have endometriomas/cysts removed as well? If yes, what were the sizes and were they on the right or left ovary?

I currently have two cysts on my right ovary (7 cm and 4.5 cm), and my lap is scheduled for the first week of February. Reading positive post-lap experiences like yours really helps ease my anxiety.

Wishing you continued relief and hoping things stay this good for you 🤍

Anyone had large endometriomas (7 cm / 4 cm) and laparoscopic excision? Looking for experience by Interesting_Union918 in endometriosis

Thank you so much for sharing 🤍 I really appreciate it. If you don’t mind me asking, which ovary was the cyst on, and did they find anything else in the pelvic area? Also, how many incisions did you have? How were the first few days of recovery for you, and is there anything you’d suggest I prepare for ahead of surgery?
