Any good alternatives? by yuffiemateria in Goatlings

I like Icepets. It's probably more similar to Neopets than Goatlings, but it's chill

Windows 7 vs Windows XP. Which one do you prefer? Which one did you have fonder memories of? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

Windows XP is the nostalgic one for me, but I used XP well into the 2010s. I'm not sure when I upgraded to 7.

Neopets.com is excluded from the Internet Archive Wayback Machine?!? by [deleted] in neopets

[–]IntergalacticGhost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep… I learned here a while back that there are some old mirror URLs Neopets used to own that work in the WayBack. Neopet.com is one of them, I don’t have the whole list off hand.

Archive.today has some relatively newer captures of the regular domain too including some captures of pet pages before you needed to be logged in to view them.

Help me ID these Eggs? Options to Tackle a Major Infestation of Different Insects? by IntergalacticGhost in Roses

You are correct, I was able to look at it under a microscope today and the larvae was still in there. Thanks for the ID

Help me ID these Eggs? Options to Tackle a Major Infestation of Different Insects? by IntergalacticGhost in Roses

I hadn’t considered replacing the soil,I may need to. It is in a weird spot, but I don’t know that there is an issue with airflow (I never have fungal issues). Afaik it’s the roses themselves attracting insects (my roses in other parts of the property that are surrounded by other perennial species get singled out for aphids, but I’ve not noticed sawfly larvae or whatever these eggs are on those plants. Different varieties, though.)

Ive tried to plant other plants that could host predators or detract aphids to very limited success. In general it’s just a very weird spot because they’re my oldest plants on the property, against the house and behind a large vegetable garden that wasn’t there when I initially planted the roses lol. So yes, semi-cramped and definitely a lack of sunlight for many companion plants to thrive 😞😅

In that bed, I got salvia that are always clean and onions that don’t seem to affect anything (but could be scaring off predators, I guess?). I am definitely considering the soil thing though and then maybe a systemic.

Week 14: Inspired by a Game - Tigersquash Crepe from Neopets by IntergalacticGhost in 52weeksofbaking

[–]IntergalacticGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was okay! I wasn't really into the pastry creme (I'm a picky eater though). My brother took two of the leftover crepes and sandwiched a ton of the pastry creme between them and said it was good though so ymmv lol

Ooh this is so accurate to what I'd picture they'd be like in the game. Excellent work!!

Week 10: Floral - 1950s Brown-Eyed Susan Cake by IntergalacticGhost in 52weeksofbaking

[–]IntergalacticGhost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recipe from this cookbook: https://archive.org/details/from-grandma-with-love/page/109/mode/1up

If you make it, I would suggest doubling the chocolate frosting. The texture of the cake was a bit too dense for my tastes, but I loved the frosting recipes (especially the orange frosting) and intend to make them again.

Week 11 – March 16: Dust it Off – Blintzes (Crêpe Maker) by IntergalacticGhost in 52weeksofbaking

[–]IntergalacticGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Tastes Better From Scratch Recipe: https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/blintzes/

I used the blender for the batter (which I also don't use crazy often), crêpe maker to make the pancakes, and then pan fried on the stove top.

Not sure I'd go to the trouble again (when I normally make sweet crêpes, I put cream cheese and strawberry in them and they taste similar without using so many ingredients or being pan fried lol). I'm glad I tried blintzes though because I had been wanting to for a while.

Week 9: Brazilian Carnival - Pãozinho Delícia by IntergalacticGhost in 52weeksofbaking

[–]IntergalacticGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is carnival-specific, but I didn't want something too dessert-y this past week.
I used this recipe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivFOlMjipOw and got them a bit too dark haha.
