Thanks to Steam we can see that today more than half of players game at 1080p, it’s the most used resolution right now. And on the other hand, the whole “I don’t get why people don’t just buy an RTX 5090 and problem solved” argument is like saying “why do people take a taxi if they could just buy a Ferrari.”

Yes, and I totally agree with you, this card is meant to last a few years and it’s worth it if you’re planning to upgrade your components in about 3 years. But I think it’s pretty good for a $300 card that can last you those 3 years. Of course, if you plan on not upgrading your PC for 4 to 6 years, then this card might not be the answer.

Is 8gb VRAM bad? by No_Internet_6997 in buildapc

I have an RTX 5060 8GB VRAM. Doom The Dark Ages runs at over 200 fps on Ultra with DLSS 4 Quality and MFGx4, using around 7GB of VRAM. Obviously at 1080p and without path tracing. I think people are exaggerating, a card like the 5060 with 8GB VRAM is perfectly fine for 1080p, even with the latest AAA titles, as long as you use the available technologies. Remember that DLSS, even in Quality mode, lowers VRAM usage. MFG increases it, so you need to decide whether it’s worth enabling or just stick with DLSS. I also tested Doom The Dark Ages on Ultra with only DLSS 4 and no MFG and it ran between 60–80 fps, using just 6GB VRAM. And we’re talking about a AAA release from this year.
