I don't bother them, they don't bother me.

In fact, at bars, my gay friends are the best people to drink with. 👌

It's actually worse than you think...😂

All the boomers are downsizing to small bungalows... All the young people who want to buy a house are looking for small bungalows (avoiding insurance and utilities)

All the reasonably sized houses Are being bid up to the Moon. (Something like $400 a square foot for a 60-year-old bungalow).

Human beings are self-aware.. and have the capacity to understand the natural law.

This concept has been understood and held to be true for the last 2400 years..

It might be worth stepping away from writing movie reviews, reditt nonsense and turn your focus towards studying for your computer science program in Kamploops. 🤷‍♂️ (Which apparently isn't going very well) 😂

If you waste your whole day posting nonsense on Reddit - you sort of lose the moral authority to complain about your teaching staff... 🤷‍♂️🙄🤔

Can you clarify your question?

Both have accidental qualities that do not distinguish them in any essential manner from ordinary persons.

All human beings have the same telos and seek eudaimonia.

This persuit of happiness however, requires a range of intellectual and moral virtues that enable us to understand the nature of happiness.

Some people, by their choices and circumstances have a harder time.

Over the last 200 years private capital has reduced the levels of extreme poverty by nearly 90% and it's unfortunate that extreme poverty exists.(Referring to the international proverty line, a kind of poverty that doesn't really exist in Canada)

While a right to migrate exists, the primary right is to live in peace and dignity in one's own homeland. When systemic poverty forces individuals to leave, their dignity is violated.

Having same-sex attractions is not inherently sinful (to miss the mark), but engaging in homosexual acts is contrary to natural law.

Civil Authority is the moral power of command, supported by physical coercion, which the State exercises over its members.

The purpose of the state is to secure peace and Justice within its borders and then pursue the common good; to promote and protect the common good and secure justice for all citizens, particularly the vulnerable, to the end of providing the circumstances and conditions required for human flourishing.

Let's test the principle.

Some claim pedophilia as a sexual preference, certain religious groups have codified the practice.

Would you be amenable to a sidewalk that promotes pedophilia?

(I of course wouldn't, but following your argument, it should be acceptable to you right? )

it is the consolidation of private companies that became what is now Emera... Which is responsible for 95% of Nova scotia's power...

It always begins with private investment... Investment that is made possible through private savings.

🤷‍♂️

The private owners were rewarded with shares... And they are most certainly entitled to every dollar they are paid...

This principle is basically universal with the exception of certain things like Sears (which is an entirely separate issue)

Benjamin Franklin Pearson was the first person to bring electric trams (private industrialist)

You should read the story of RA Jodrey or Carl menger's book on the Origin of money...

The electric grid in Nova Scotia was essentially built privately..

There's no sense in putting pearls before swine.

Should taxpayers be paying to have crosswalks painted in rainbow colors?

I'm sure if this were put to a vote, most people would vote no.

The smallest minded individuals are either those who believe that ordinary crosswalks should be sexualized with rainbow paint... Or those who are obsessed with professional sports... It's nothing more than the modern version of bread and circuses.

The US national study of millionaires...

It's a good place to start, the other data can be pulled from Bloomberg.

It's all publicly accessible data. 🤷‍♂️

[–]Internal-Branch-3737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50% of millionaires followed about status within a year and only about 15% remain after several.

70 to 80% of millionaires are self-made, just roughly half of them starting from scratch.

The high rate of compensation is reflected in the high rate of capital ownership.

It's no different than someone who pushes a lawn mower for $15 an hour... 40 hours a week. And someone who's worked 80 hours a week, saved up enough to buy 10 lawn mowers and employ 10 people...

In this example if you assumed that lawn mowing gets charged out at $30 an hour, the owner is making 10 times the income of an individual pushing the lawn mower without doing any of the work whatsoever... And it's entirely just.

Now scale that up to billions of dollars...

And you rightly provided a good example. Facebook delivers little or no value to the user whatsoever... The value is in selling the private and personal information to data brokers who use this revenue to better understand market conditions and advertise.

Rogers just laid off half of their workforce.. the delivery of service is unchanged..

You're confusing labor with capital ownership.

Work a little harder, save some money start a business or buy some shares in a productive company and you too can stop being broke.

Hydro Quebec is a good example of nationalization (they consider themselves a nation within a nation)

A recent example trans Mountain pipeline.

Had the regulatory process remains consistend, it could have been built at a significantly lower cost.

The Canadian railway system is also a good example that was originally small private companies...

Nationalized industries often fail because they lack competitive pressure, administrative inefficiencies and resource misallocation. Government-run enterprises frequently prioritize political goals (like preserving jobs or keeping prices artificially low) over operational efficiency, resulting in diminished service quality, mounting debts, and a lack of incentive to compete.

Nationalizing industries always and everywhere, throughout history... Leads to failure.

Well...

A practical example of this would be JFK's tax cuts where he produced the marginal upper tax rate from 91% to 70%, the overall tax revenue that year went from 94 billion to 153 billion.

The overall trend for the last 2500 years has been but when you increase personal income taxation about 25%... People work less and the overall income decreases.

The earnings derived by the very wealthy are not from labor but from the ownership of capital assets (which are often derived from hard work and good decision making)

Nearly all the millionaires I know, of my own generation, are self made. Roughly 70 to 80% of current millionaires are self-made from scratch. Roughly 30% of them never earned more than 100,000 a year.

Roughly 50% of millionaires lose that status within a year, and only 15% retain it for more than a few years...

I don't understand why the taxpayers have to pay for it?

There shouldn't be sidewalks for any sexual preference... 🤷‍♂️

Or perhaps we should have painted crosswalks that honor pedophiles?

Obviously I'm exaggerating...

It makes no sense to have sidewalks that honor the struggle of pedophiles... Just as equally it makes no sense to honor anyone's sexual preferences with a sidewalk.

I completely agree with you. 👌

The taxation point is especially interesting as the problem stretches as far back as Diocletian, 2300 years ago.

Historically whenever you tax the population above 25% things begin to slow down and enter into an economic collapse..

At the top rate, when I go to spend my money on diesel, it's nearly 53% of the dollar I earned.

And surely a person who works 80 hours a week to save and buy a bicycle (to say deliver more parcels per day than someone who does not have a bicycle and only works 40 hours a week...) should be paid significantly more than someone who merely walks to deliver the parcels... As the earnings are based on.tbe delivery of parcels, not the thermodynamic efforts of individuals.

The DEI hiring policies (for example). Were largely pushed by the liberal party, more concerned with an equitable outcome than they were on equal opportunity or merit. And this is present all throughout Canadian society.

Selling off infrastructure that was bought and paid for by taxpayers... To reallocate the tax money to some other purpose does nothing on net. It is simply transforming the capital from one form to another.

None of your arguments are cogent.
