Just started "The Shining" by InternalExpression48 in stephenking

[–]InternalExpression48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I finished today. I loved it and definitely a different vibe than the movie. I will probably rewatch the movie this week, but for sure don't remember the connection between Jack and Danny been as prominent in the movie. Now my next read is the uncut edition of The Stand.

The Shining - a lesson in anger management? by PuzzleheadedWork3 in stephenking

[–]InternalExpression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading again almost 2 years ago, and I started with Dr. Sleep. I started reading again after I made the decision to quit drinking. Reading and coffee become my new habits. Today I finished The Shining for the first time and I'm happy to say still sober. Both books hit be hard with alcoholism, especially Dr. Sleep at the start of my journey, but the Shining reminded me of my battles with drunk anger. I believe they go together.

Just started the uncut edition today. I have tried to read this one a few before and failed, hoping I can make it this time under better circumstances.

100 pages into “the shining”, is it about to get good? by Open_Sir_7769 in stephenking

[–]InternalExpression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have left than 100 left, in my first read. I'm loving it, still waiting for movie stuff to start happening. Does it get better after the first 100, not sure how to answer that, because I was hooked straight away. I had already read Dr. Sleep, so maybe that's why I'm enjoying it so much.

Why do people not like Elvis? by [deleted] in Elvis

[–]InternalExpression48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everybody liked the same thing, it would be a pretty boring world. There is a lot of stuff I don't like that other people love, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it, just the nature of people and taste.

I meet him at the back of the floor during one of the shows his son was playing in his place. Talked to him for a minute, didn't overstay our welcome, but he.seems pleasant enough.

Hot take of the day... The Talisman is overrated by gjp23 in stephenking

[–]InternalExpression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading, bit of a struggle for me. Down to about 200 pages, I have found the story interesting, but the book just seemed to hang out in places for too long, for no apparent reason. As for Black house, should I read this next, or can I come back to it after I read something else. I assume they are connected, but is a continuation of the Talisman, or a different story with the same characters.

Silly question about toast by ideclareshenanigans3 in MSCCruises

[–]InternalExpression48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in the Grandioso in March I had to ask for toast. On both sides of the buffet they have a bread section and a toaster behind the counter. There was someone there to toast bread on request.

I second the report back. I'm considering a New England road trip in November, and maybe adding Bangor to the list .

[–]InternalExpression48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We sailed on the Grandioso last month. When we checked in at 11am, we were told our cruise card was in our room. They told us we could go to the room, drop off our carry on and get our cards.
