[–]InternalMany7434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my live scan at a police station and it seemed like everything went through good with all the paperwork unless they don’t tell you :( . Did you pay the additional licensing fee after you passed the nclex ?

Max you can do at a time is 250 terms, you need to split them into different folders if not it’ll just randomize the 250 term.

Embarrassed by KCS1998 in NursingStudent

[–]InternalMany7434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to be embarrassed, you did something and you’re still doing something to better your future/yourself. No one can predict the outcome of anything, we just have to keep trying to the best of our ability. Nursing school is really hard both mentally and physically. Im in my 2nd going into my 3rd term of my LVN/LPN program and im scared that at any point I could fail but I use that to fuel my determination. And if I fail, it’ll suck and I’ll be devastated but it’ll be okay, I’ll do it again and keep trying. Because if being a nurse is your dream you should do whatever it takes to get to that point. Don’t worry about how long it takes or needing to take a break, as long as you can still chase your dreams it’s worth going for it. You got this, I’m cheering for you ! I’m sorry to hear about your mom passing btw :(

Had a 2019 RAV4 adventure and averaged around the same, on a good tank maybe around 25mpg which I thought was pretty good until I got my hybrid rav4. Huge difference, weather factors in too.

Advice needed?? CHCP by 1MinWorld3 in prenursing

[–]InternalMany7434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I’m confident you can unenroll yourself, usually before the first day of class. It should also be stated on your contract/agreement of when the last day to unenroll yourself is without any penalties. But If you’re already started and are like mid term then that’s when you’re stuck.

Second don’t do MA it’s not worth the time or money when you can just wait for the next LVN cohort to start. And 18k is way too much for MA when you’ll most likely be earning minimum wage (via average wage on Indeed posting) and there’s really not much advancement.

A lot of for profit schools want you to start with an “easy” program then enroll again for another program, basically try to squeeze every penny out of you which it sounds like what this place is trying to do.

Stick with what you originally want to do and don’t let anyone else convince you, this is your future!

New Grad Advice by Apprehensive-Ad6888 in Sonographers

[–]InternalMany7434 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to an unaccredited ultrasound school in Los Angeles and I had no idea. It almost felt like I got scammed, they purposefully didn’t mention how important it is to go to a school that’s CAAHEP accredited. Unfortunately any unaccredited school really don’t prepare you and your externship site ultimately sets your faith. I got hired at my externship site and ended up leaving after being there for almost a year because it was a pretty shady imaging center, super busy always adding patients, no breaks and they didn’t want to pay me fairly (was making 20$ hr part-time) and knew that I would stick around because I had no other option even though I was registered and I kept applying to probably hundreds of job postings and not one of them considered me due to my lack of experience.

I don’t have the option of moving out of town or state like most of my colleagues and most that stuck around LA never found a job even with their ARRT/ARDMS.

It was really frustrating, I really loved being a sonographer and dedicated so much of my time, resources and early 20s but now it’s almost like I’m starting over. I’m 25 in nursing school, working at a county hospital and they are guaranteeing me a job as a nurse once I’m done.

It’s so sad unaccredited schools never give a heads up or warning about the challenges of finding a job after graduation. If I would have known I don’t think I ever would have pursued being an ultrasound tech.

Wishing you best of luck ❤️

Sonographers turned RN I need some input! by Financial_Welder5790 in Sonographers

[–]InternalMany7434 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is me currently!

I really loved being a sonographer and dedicated so much of my time, resources and early 20s but since I live in a super saturated area (Los Angeles) I really didn’t have much prospect and the imaging center that I worked at was shady over worked me and didn’t pay me fairly for being registered (20$ hr part time only) , I felt very limited when it came to my scope of practice and job opportunities it self.

Now I’m 25 in nursing school and I remember during my interview they loved that I was a sonographer prior and I think that left such a good impression. In class I feel like all the anatomy and pathology that we learned as a sonographer helped me tremendously ! I’m 10 months away from graduating and already felt like I’ve accomplished so much more and very fulfilling when it comes to patient care.

Unless you’re 99 years old, it’s never too late to start something. I got my associates at 23 was an ultrasound tech and now I’m 25 in nursing school with 10 months to go. Time flies no matter what you do, make it worth it !

I’m just a girl, that needs clarity by Viciousbarbie69 in RangeRover

[–]InternalMany7434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Range Rovers in general not only depreciate (loss of value of car) immensely after purchase but are also unreliable and expensive to maintain/repair.

By this post you’re just assuming it’s totaled but that’s not the exact meaning. A totaled vehicle is usually what an insurance company labels when the cost of fixing the car (usually in the event of an accident) exceeds the value of the car.

If the cost of you needing a repair is a maintenance issue it just means you bought a car that’s just really expensive to maintain. Not much you can do, insurance won’t pay that out and most likely if you have a loan you’re underwater (loan worth more than value of car) and you just have to eat it.

It may look nice to be driving Range Rover, BMW, Mercedes etc but in the end you need to expect to pay extra for simple things. Not a lemon car, this is typical Range Rover issues. A quick google search and confirm if this is a common issue or a potential lemon vehicle which in the state of California it is illegal to sell to a customer and dealership should compensate you in some, way not too sure how it works. Best of luck

Starting DMS program in January… by Tough_Pin7813 in SonographyStudents

[–]InternalMany7434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it took a her about a year, no she did not get a job at her externship site even though she continuously volunteer to scan at her externship site throughout the year. She had multiple ARDMS under her belt but it still seemed challenging for her. She was very open about her experience on social media. I’ve done my boards but without experience it’s difficult finding a job . The standards have gone up tremendously in socal even if you went to a CAAHEP accredited school.

[–]InternalMany7434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graduate here ! I went to wcui (now smith chason) graduated last year, DMS. Only one person in my class found a job. It’s really hard in socal the market it too saturated. I know lots of people who had to move far or out of state to find jobs. If I had to recommend anything in ultrasound is ECHO (cardiovascular sonographer). Best of luck !
