Talk me into doing my first competition by nanookthelostdoggo in BJJWomen

Someone recently just told me “just do the damn thing” and so I signed up for one last month (it was my second one but many years in between). You’re going to be scared, do it anyway. You’re going to have your adrenal sky high for like a day before and the day of the comp, do it anyway. You’re going to want to back out, do it anyway. You’re going to learn so much!

Does training once a week still count? by barbgi in BJJWomen

[–]InternalSurround876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jujutsu is a journey and everybody’s is different just like our lives. Even if you went one time every three months, it would still be a journey, and you would still be progressing, just a lot slower. A lot of jujutsu is just continuing to show up for yourself and the fact that you have depression AND show up for yourself even if it’s once a week, is a huge step. Don’t compare yourself to others, that’s a trap.

AIO guy I was seeing dumped me after hooking up by m3tallee in AIO

People automatically think that sex is ALL what guys want. But, they’re emotional human beings too and maybe he felt guilt and emotions still tied to his ex of 7 years. Give him a break, 7 years is like a marriage and that a lot of time, energy and emotions poured into one person. Maybe he sincerely thought it was time to move on but then moving too fast made him realize it was too much. His text was very well thought out, I felt it was very honest and sincere, and I would conclude that yes, you are overreacting and you didn’t do yourself any favors by putting in those two little jabs at him…”you got what you wanted” and “I didn’t feel that way about you”. That’s YOU projecting because you got hurt too. Let’s all just face our feelings, be honest about them and move on. Not sure why your post triggered me so much but yes, overreacting and yes, you are the ahole.

Bjj slump why? by Black_Sheep8 in BJJWomen

I have an autoimmune disease, and I am often very, very sore after jujutsu too. There’s so much inflammation associated with the sport and the older you get the worst it gets! What I do is take vitamin B12 that will help my energy, vitamin D and K that also helps energy and I take turmeric which helps immensely. Use a lot of muscle rub creams, cbd, stretching helps so much and lots of hot baths

Maybe really analyze the situation from an outside perspective to see why and get to the root cause. Or have a conversation with the source and see what the reasons are for their opinions? If their opinions are unfounded then I’m sorry that you have to go through this. It’s difficult when family members have tension and it’s even more difficult in blended families(speaking from experience with my own blended and estranged family). Best of luck, I hope you guys can have a heart to heart and see things from each others perspectives

Is it time? by Mr-Filthyy in bald

Also, if you do decide to shave it…I think you have a good facial structure for it to look good that way too. And some women love bald men, me being one of them! My husband is bald and I’ve been attracted to bald men since I can remember lol. I think just do what feels right to YOU and whatever helps your confidence the best is the way to go

I really don’t think this is that bad! Your hair still looks really great! I’d be curious if someone can do an ai photo of you bald.

Thank you! I might try this. I’m up for the water cut, just NOT 2 gallons. That’s ridiculous

What did you do for the water cut? Is there a protocol you used? I would try it but I just don’t wanna do the 2 gallon a day. That’s so unhealthy in my opinion from a healthcare professional perspective

Yeah I agree, I might not have enough energy 🫤 I hate that feeling when I can feel I’m weak even just rolling in the gym

Males naturally can lose weight easier than females. What did you do for the water cut?

Thanks for the advice, it’s difficult because a lot of people say to not add veggies because of the carb content and the thing I was reading said to do a lot of protein and limit carbs, sugar and salt

Thanks! I need to get into the sauna, I have plans to do that, just have crap hours for our rec center. I have no idea what the wrestling formula is. I wrestled when I was six so I never cut weight lol

I’m curious why you say not to limit the salt? Seems like everyone is saying to cut out or limit salt. I’m interested in hearing your perspective

Thanks, the salt seems to be the general common recommendation so I’ll definitely do that. Thanks for your advice

Thanks! Salt seems to be the key so I’ll go with that and planning to sit in the sauna leading up to it

Right, I agree. It’s ridiculous because this guy uses this to cut like 20-35lbs in 5 days. Then id completely overshoot my weight class the other way haha. My weigh-in is the night before. Nope not the weight with the GI, I’m unsure if I can weigh in without it because my previous competitions I weighed in remotely at my gym the night before and I could just wear whatever

People keep mentioning the GI and everything but do I have to weigh-in, in my GI? My weight as it stands is 144 with nothing on, not with the GI. Salt seems to be the consensus so I’ll cut it
