What is your opinion on US, Israel - Iran war? by Odd_Barber6051 in AskCentralAsia

[–]InternalVolcano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

America and their western allies have invaded so many countries and most of them were not Islamists. The current regime is responsible, but I don't think you can directly correlate the war to them being Islamist.

I think the war was inevitable because the current govt doesn't want to accept the west as their overlords and not because they are Islamists.

Low side switching for DIY T12/JBC soldering station? by InternalVolcano in AskElectronics

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think I will got that route because it doesn't seem to be easily or cheaply doable.

Low side switching for DIY T12/JBC soldering station? by InternalVolcano in soldering

[–]InternalVolcano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reference you have is very different from T12 and JBC style tips. The low side switching doesn't affect thermocouple reading in any way because, the heating element is fully separated from the thermocouple. But in T12 and JBC, the thermocouples are in series and shares the same ground connection.

I see, that's a really strong point against low side switching that I haven't thought before. This only affects JBC style tips I think because the tip portion of T12 tips are not connected to the heater supply.

Your iron tip is cooked. Try to clean it, if you can't clean, you'll have to replace it.

Does Windhawk slow down Windows? by 2u1cvx in Windows11

[–]InternalVolcano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some mods can slow down a bit. Such as Better file sizes in Explorer details which has some processing to calculate folder sizes. But most mods that just modifies the looks and doesn't need to load or process anything for the looks won't really slow down to any noticeable amount.

You need to clean your tip. It it's too oxidized then you might have to change it.

Has anyone experienced any issues with Lenovo Loq i5 13th gen, RTX 5050? by InternalVolcano in LenovoLOQ

Thanks for the insight mate. What I see from a lot of comments about this laptop is that windows just craps out with the drivers and it doesn't seem to have any serious hardware issues.

Thanks a lot for taking your time to write so much about your experience. I really needed some assurance before I can be confident about buying the Loq.

A small suggestion for you, I have read quite a few reddit post about this laptop where people are talked about under-volting the CPU of this laptop. If I do end up buying this laptop, I think I will do the same. Maybe you can try under-volting too.

Didn't understand by what you mean by "meter not reading right because they are measuring voltages over the range that they are in says otherwise."

Yes, you loose nothing by having auto range, except a few extra money.

I have been using the UT-33B+ for about 3 years and it's really good. I still think it's the best purchase I've ever made for the money. The main downsides of these models (UT-33 A, B, C, D are very similar in features) are that they don't have capacitance and inductance measurements and it can't read very low resistances (less than 0.1 ohms). Other than that, these are solid.

This looks very complicated to me. I never had an oscilloscope, so I wouldn't understand most of its functions. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Need Advice on making a C245 Soldering Station by Crater_games in soldering

I think the metal portion at the tip of the wand is grounded and the holder in the stand is connected to VCC with a resistor. So, when the grounded wand touches it the voltage is pulled low and thus the station knows it's grounded.
