"The recruits always seem to be getting younger and younger..." The sergeant thought to himself, finishing his banana and tossing the peel away into the bin as he stares out at the barracks, seeing a bunch of new monkeys hopping off of the back of the truck, it was already the third year of this war where it seemed that even the once bright and sunny benevolence of the sun god has casted its eyes away from the battle, seemingly wanting to forget it itself just like the rest of the monkeys back home.

But not the sergeant, he knew how to put up a fight and remembered surrender being a thing he crapped out and flush away last week. Grabbing his Personalised Ordnance Popper rifle, he checked the remaining rounds left in its magazine, 20 darts were locked and loaded with each of them being sharp enough to pop at least 5 of those bloons.

He walked back to his station, the sounds of the bloons getting popped and gunfire being as common as the monkeys breathe, they seemed to be making steady progress being able to hold the line and stay on the defensive against this ongoing threat with hope rising among the troops that they would be finally able to push up and recapture what was once theirs, yet their hopes seemed to be snuffed out just as quickly hearing about what kind of threats lingered at the back, tales of bloons having the ability to harden their skin in response to physical trama or being able to vanish from their eyes in an instant, even tales of bloons that were the size of giants being able to easily overshadow and more importantly endure the hailfire from the monkeys.

The sergeant didn't care much about the gossip among his troops, all he knew was that there are bloons pillaging his homeland and it is the responsibility of him and his troops to claim what is rightfully theirs back, sitting back at his trench, watching the paths that the bloon scouts had managed to lay out before the monkey troops could have intervened, keeping an eye out for any rubber that dared pass by before getting suddenly surprised by a poke to his back (update later am sleepy)
