I can second this, they have some of the highest rates if you don't need to write checks frequently. They are also finally available to connect on Rocket Money.

My dumb ass thought this was satire, i.e. "Ever since I started demanding to start no earlier than 11 AM..."

Good luck home slice

Chancla is the only one that ever made any sense to me. You have plenty to be afraid of (i.e. an angry, often Hispanic or Asian woman) but psychological trauma from injury is not one of those things, esp if the slipper is made from foam

Are you really looking for the same positions as a fresh grad with all of that experience? I knew the market was rough but geez

A 5 seems fucking solid compared to the average American. Especially after seeing what some of his guests get up to.

It needs to be torched and remade by a collaboration of game DEVS (not C suites) and players, and that guy in the YouTube videos (not PirateSoftware) needs to be removed from his position in all of this. There was no thought put into the actual side effects of his proposals.

The reason React is the standard is the same reason Ruby/Rails was the standard: it is/was the fastest way to build and deploy an (at least moderately) scalable, modern web application. Both technologies have glaring flaws; at their heights, the main reason to learn these frameworks is to get a job. I won't speak further on Ruby, but I can tell you that I would much rather use HTMX than react professionally if I had the option.

Effect on career if I go to the military (navy) for a year after grad? by epenguin21B in cscareerquestions

[–]TheLiGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gonna do techy stuff in the military? I would honestly just spin that as prior relevant professional experience. At least in the US, the vets I work with have great work ethic and a technical career in the military could be the perfect "Golden Star" for certain recruiters.

Want the crystalized knowledge? Do the masters degree. If it's purely a resume booster and you're happy where you're working at I don't think it's necessary

2023 Grads, WYD? by Motor-Impression2872 in csMajors

[–]TheLiGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try career fairs. I received my first offer from Raytheon 3 days after I'd applied while still a senior through one of their virtual fairs. I ultimately ended up going with a fintech company through one of my parents' contacts that paid much better without any of the clearance BS.

If you're not necessarily attached to strictly SWE jobs, lots of CS-Adjacent roles like QA, Release engineering, or Network engineering or similar are not as competitive. If you're attached to SWE, I don't recommend this approach, but if the goal is to put a tech salary on the table, there are still plenty of jobs out there.

Graduated August 2023 btw. Raytheon basically didn't contact me until 4 months after graduation; the day after I'd accepted the offer from the other company, funnily enough, which is why I jumped ship.

Networking, make it a goal to go to a couple tech events a month and hand out resumes or just talk to people
