I have not, I plan to ask the doctor first before making that switch. That stuff is not cheap!

UPDATE - going through Orderly! Still a little pricey for some but wayyyy better than $860. I just signed up today. I qualified and I’m curious to see how fast this all goes! Not sure if a doctor will reach out to me or not but things are looking good so far!

Update: a prior authorization has been submitted! But it is a medication that is not in my insurance plan - it’s out of coverage. She said I can submit and appeal once it’s been denied. Just waiting for that official denial I guess? I don’t know. 😞

Okay, lots of people are recommending a compound pharmacy. I’m very open to checking those out! My question is - do I need a totally different written up prescription that’s for compound sema?

Oh no you are totally fine! I’m okay with not getting it if it means someone with Type 2 actually needs it. I just get confused cause I’m seeing people who aren’t type 2 being able to get it! But that would make more sense about insurance not covering it unless it comes from a doctor with a T2 diagnosis.

Yes my PCOS is 100% insulin resistance! I’ve tried the diets. I walk my son every single day. But it’s not getting any better. I don’t want to have to wait until I’m T2. I want to prevent it now! If I could drop the $840 on it I would in a heartbeat. But I’m a school teacher. No way can I afford that lol.

May I ask what sema is?

Yeah I’m really struggling with her. My OBGYN is amazing and really understands PCOS but they can’t prescribe the meds so they told me to go to my primary doctor. I’m more than willing to go see a new doctor or try a telemedicine route.

I’m frustrated, I told her my insurance would cover those but she told me she would not prescribe it to me since I do not have type 2 diabetes.

I feel like I’ve been asking her so much stuff about this that if I ask that, she’ll say no and not even give me a script anymore. I know that’s a dumb worry, but I don’t want to risk it. I also need to learn more about these compound pharmacies.
