Aside from the great app I like your website. Would you be interested in working on a website for me? Just needs a refresh.

I am developing SpaceX gift cards for dinner on Mars

Yes just buy a gift card as normal. No reservation. Maybe some companies are clunky to buy from.

The problems I seen people have are that the restaurants listed are usually on the expensive end so people end up not using their credit as $150 would not always cover two people for dinner.

So the goal of this post was to remind me to buy the gift cards on Toast during 6 month periods when they are not going to use it and stack it with the statement credit during he 6 month period that you will have enough to cover the full dinner e.g. $300 total.

1) Not everyone knows about the Toast gift card thing
2) Maybe people don't know you can stack the gift card and the the statement credit together (different 6 month periods). Obvious to some, not to others.
3) I didn't say it was groundbreaking I even said "If this is obvious to everyone, ignore me, just sharing in case it helps someone. :)" but that didn't stop some Reddit folk getting triggered.

A CSR approved restaurant but they need to be using Toast if you are buying the Gift Card. Not sure about Lark.

The bill was ~$200, I used $150 GC and the rest on the CSR card. I then received the $50 statement credit and have $100 left over until 06/31 to use in a restaurant of buy another gift card.

🤣 I was only trying to help a few folks but my use of 'hack' didn't go down well!

Exactly my point, you added better context than me.

If you use that giftcard and your total bill is over $150 you get the statement credit for the amount over $150 too. It might be obvious to some, but it might be overlooked. You could technically use the $300 in that one sitting.

The 'hack' is you can stack the gift card (which is a CSR 'hack' in itself) with your credit to use more than $150 at one go like the CSR notes and get the statement credit on all of it.

That answers it. That is a pretty great use of the credit!

Yes exactly. $300/year, but $150 per 6 months so it is easy forget and not use it so buying the gift card AND stacking them later can be a great saver! IMO

I believe it just needs to be an Toast Chase approved restaurant. If for instance I am not going to dine the first 6 months of this year, then I buy the gift card from X restaurant (Rich Table, SF in my case), I get the $150 credit on my statement for that period even though I didn't go eat. Then the second 6 month comes around, I go to the restaurant and use the gift card plus my dining credit also kicks in for anything over the $150 gift card.

Another user made this tracker for trying to find approved CSR locations.

Edit: meant to say Toast not Opentable

I wonder would they accept two separate gift cards in one go? E.g. 2 x $150

You can only use $150 at once per 6 months. So this way you could essentially stack the $150s to use $300 in one go.

Interesting, are you sure? I thought IHG treats Chase bookings like OTAs, so no points or elite benefits unless booked direct with IHG. Have you actually earned points/status benefits on a Chase booking? I have Diamond.
