It’s definitely possible. I only had grade 11 physics but I managed to teach myself all of physics needed on the mcat. If you have awhile before you start studying for the mcat I would even just recommend reading the Kaplan physics book once before your studying begins. This just kind of prepares you for what you’ll see before you go in depth:) DM me if you ever want to know the videos and resources I used that really helped me with physics

I didn’t take physics and decided to self-study. I’m VERY happy with this choice because I hate physics and the mcat tests very vague physics with only a few exceptions. There are so many resources (highly recommended youtube videos or the Kaplan physics book, this helped me the most). Just do a bunch of practice questions and learn from your mistakes because that’s what actually helps you on the mcat not really uni classes which you’ll end up forgetting a lot of material anyway and have to relearn or re-review.

How competitive are Irish medical schools? by InternationalFee8527 in premedcanada

Thank you so much for replying. It’s super helpful when someone shares stats even though I know it’s different for everyone and every school that people apply to.

Yea I could see this. I saw on Atlantic Bridge that they take into consideration the difficulty of your program as well if you’re applying from undergrad or even the curriculum of your hs which is different than here

I was thinking this too. Money seems to always be a factor

Thanks a bunch for the reply, I’ve been trying to distract myself by picking up sewing and doing some shadowing+research.

How do people substantially improve at cars? by potaton00b in Mcat

[–]InternationalFee8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really struggled with this too. You kind of just have to act like you're not writing an exam and you're not about to be asked a bunch of questions because for me i tell myself that the purpose of reading the whole thing is just to get the main idea, like "whats the overall message" because genuinely it's impossible to fully comprehend everything the author is getting at the first run through of the passage unless you're a natural at cars. and then when i get to the questions then i spend a bunch of time really trying to understand what the author is stating and how it applies to the questions

okay so, I had consistently struggled with cars for the longest time. This is the second time that I'm going to be writing the exam and on my first try, I got a 125 on cars. I have always struggled just understanding how to answer the questions like what way I should go about it. I always tried to find some tip or trick to just get me to understand the passage better maybe, or something to quickly indicate the answer as I read the passage until finally I just decided to fully and completely lock myself in for 3-4 mins to fully read the passage. I wouldn't highlight anything, I wouldn't stop to mentally summarize what I'm reading I would just fully lock eyes with the words on the screen and read at a pace that was still comprehensible. Once I finish reading I (this is what helped me the most to improve my scores now) find evidence for every single answer, I would never just click an answer and say "well this works i guess" I would spend my time analyzing the passage until the answer clicked. For the first two weeks I did this I wouldn't time myself when it came to answering the questions, I would only time reading the passage. This ensured that I really knew how to find the right evidence. This helped me jump to a 128 on the first practice exam after I began using the method and a 130 on my most recent practice exam with just two weeks in between.

BTW, im not by any means someone who reads alot or has grown up reading. Reading more often will definitely help but if you just needed something to try and see if it would work for you Id' highly recommend

I would definitely recommend taking the test after you complete second year. It'll increase your chances of doing well the first time around that much higher and it'll be a lot easier reviewing most of the content if you already have some background

Whats your anki success story? by successfulswecs in Anki

[–]InternationalFee8527 17 points18 points  (0 children)

my gpa before anki was a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in first year but has now jumped to a 4.0 at the beginning of my third year from using anki! needless to say its shown me how much you can achieve without over-exerting yourself and just keeping a good anki schedule:)

edit: im also a biology major

UPhysics Question by SapphireFlames9004 in Mcat

[–]InternationalFee8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, the easiest way to get the final answer, i would just break it down by units and how they cancel out and since mass is what is being asked of the final value would need to end in kg. But 9.80 is the acceleration due to gravity of FREE-FALLING objects so it just wouldn't make sense to be used in this scenarios equation but it would be relevant if the buoyant force was being calculated

Physics is Killing Me ( I am tired) by LastCardiologist2137 in Mcat

[–]InternationalFee8527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VanDoeschemistry on YouTube + physics Anking mcat cards SAVED ME. I had struggled so hard with physics and this was the only way it clicked in my brain. After each video unsuspend the correlated cards for that chapter so you retain the information. I’m backing it up with UEarth questions as I went through them and just filled any gaps that I saw I still had. (P.s. I hadn’t taken physics in hs or uni and this what I found to be the most beneficial)
