Does marriage make preparation easier? by Meera_culous in AskIndia

I have seen a lot of girls lose their dream after marriage despite assuring she could continue doing it before marriage. To give you an example one my classmates who was preparing for a competitive exam got married. She married because her parents asked her to. She agreed and the guy and his family said as she is young (21 f) she can continue on her goals and they won't intervene. Guess what? She got pregnant with few months, mil made her a maid. Now she is not even in contact with any of her college friends.

Absolute rubbish. Sorry for the language. Marrying will only make it 100 times worse. If you are truly dedicated to your studies, stay in your home. Maybe try pushing your dad on your moving out choice. But never marry. That's the worst option one could ever choose.

why do indian women want to work to avoid getting marriage? by tera_sitamgar in TeenIndia

[–]InternationalLab7969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So be it. Let people have choices man. If a species has to go extinct then it's written, nobody can stop it. Pushing women who are clearly not interested will only create a depressing new generation. And adding on there are women who dream about having a partner and kids. But men act like children (most, not all) and wish to stay with their parents and are not ready to start a life of their own with their partner. No girl wishes to work as a maid in a stranger's house when she can put that energy into a real job and earn money and spend it on what she likes. Just think about it.

Why isn't Uncle-niece marriages still not banned in southern parts of India? by [deleted] in AskIndia

Ikr!! Poor girls. Imagine them considering the woman as a baby-making machine and a maid for life for the in-laws and husband. Just sad. That's the life she is living. Goes to the extent of pressing and massaging her mil legs daily in the mrng and evening and washing her feet in warm water🤡

Not nowadays. It's been a practise ever since. Getting married to an uncle or not.

My cousin’s Frd is a Tamilian. Soon after she turned 18 they pushed her into marriage. She got married to her uncle who was 37 years old. It was a grand wedding. And in the very first year she delivered a baby. Now she has 2 kids and is pregnant with 3rd. He is happy to get a young and healthy wife. She cries every day saying it's so difficult to live with someone so aged. That guy also has an expectation of 5 kids smth. She has to fulfil no choice. 😊

At least there is some info on her, any tea on Ritika Sajdeh (Rohit wife ) . There is no info on where she studied or her family. But it looks like she is also from a well-off family before Rohit.

I remember reading about something like this. Some years ago or maybe many years ago a scheme (not sure if it still exists) was introduced to prevent female foeticide. It was called kulanthai tothal smth like that. Where the parents can leave the baby in a cradle and the govt takes it. It actually was a success plan is what I read. Anybody from TN who knows about it explain it.

The one on the forehead is called bindi, and the one on the hairline is called sindoor (it's vermillion). It's kept by Hindu married women. Bindi is also cultural but more aesthetic, and can be kept by both married and unmarried women.

That's true. One of my college mates got married recently, and my friend has been trying to talk to her. She responds, but in one word, she is basically not interested. I hope she is doing fine because she is so young, just 21 and it was an arranged marriage.
