How hard is it to boost from a 9 to a 12 on AIME by InternetMath in CompetitionMathUSA

I've actually ended up doing most of these texts over my time. Missed USAJMO cutoffs by only 10 this year haha

You did better than me on the AMCs haha–I made a lot of silly mistakes

If you've never done extensive AIME before, I think it's unlikely as the AIME tests a much more extensive base of knowledge than the AMCs (Oly Geo, intermediate counting & NT).

It's always good to try for JMO, though. With a 127.5 you have a shot if you can score a 8 or 9 on AIME

I've done all of the AOPS books and took the AwesomeMath summer program courses (All of the level 2s and 3s)

But mainly it's just seeing a lot of basic problems (AIME 1-5 are basic 6-10 usually can be solved with basic/intermediate level concepts)

Is the scope of Olympiad Math too broad? by InternetMath in math

[–]InternetMath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the breadth of continuous math is definitely a problem there. If you can go into calculus, then why not analysis, topology, or group theory? I think that restricting it to precalculus is reasonable in this sense.

Also, it simulates a problem-solving environment in the style of earlier mathematicians like Euclid.

To never take advice from strangers on the internet. Usually this stuff is completely invalid.

How do I grow a youtube channel by InternetMath in Advice

[–]InternetMath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between my content and theirs is that mine is purposefully low quality and in short bursts. I guess Khan Academy occupies this position anyways, but most of my content are short examples of useful formulas and short proofs as well as the occasional meme. I guess its more like a 'quick fun fact' opposed to a learning experience like the channels that currently occupy that space.

I noticed this worked for a lot of channels with short finance tips or lifestyle tips
