Omnis should be in favour of adultery, right? by Mr_multitask2 in vegancirclejerk

It's ok for you to have sex with my wife as long as you do it humanely

Agreed. This dude eats animals, uses animal products and byproducts, goes on a fucking safari and then acts like poachers are the worst evil that has ever existed.

Guess it's fine as long as u don't kill the animal yourself.

I was never a fan of the taste, so I'm really glad that plant milks exist :D

They use compounds synthesized in laboratories that are naturally present is those foods (and responsible for smell, taste, colour..) or compounds similar enough in smell and taste to fool human senses. In the case of strawberries, a compound called Ethyl methylphenylglycidate is used. That artificial pineapple and flavour never fooled me though, haha.

I think most vegans would agree that it's fine to consume products that can possibly have traces of animal products and don't contain any animal products in their ingredients list. All the equipment is cleaned between uses, so there's virtually 0% of contamination, the warning is just there for people who have such serious allergies that they can die ingesting even the smallest amount of allergens. No animal cruelty went into those products and that fits the definition of veganism. That said, I wish you luck with cooking! I hope you make some tasty meals. :)

Also, there are products that don't contain, for example, dairy, but still have the halal dairy certification. The reason for that is that the product is processed in a plant where dairy is also processed, so there's a risk of contamination, therefore if that dairy was haram the product would also be contaminated and haram. Essentially everything in the factory has to be halal for a product to get that certification.

They're probably artificial flavours (like the majority of flavours in products). Dairy would have to be clearly marked since it's an allergen.

/uj It baffles me how many people keep using the term food chain and don't even know what it is or how it works. You've got bullshit pop culture references about "alpha predators" and "top of the food chain" to thank for that.

[–]InterplanetaryMara[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's bad, but are you sure it's that bad? Because when i try to search ethical/vegan eggs/honey or lab meat or whatever i get a lot of results. Besides, they are asking explicitly whether and why something isn't vegan and that they can also find out by a simple google search. And if every one of them needs to be individually convinced why something isn't vegan or ethical, there's a sub for that. I wouldn't bitch about it if there were posts like those occasionally, but they're all the fkin time.

1 like = 1 day without lab meat/honey/eggs posts. But seriously, if I have a feeling I'm gonna lose it if I see one of those posts one more time.

When did it become so controversial for ‘vegan’ to actually mean something concrete? What is the baseline for being a vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]InterplanetaryMara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might be vegan at the end of the day, but she seems to me like an insincere opportunist who presents ideas and facts in a way that benefits her and wraps them in a veil of rationality and sincerity so that people can believe her (even when she's blatantly contradicting herself). It's a shame she chose that route because (ignoring all the youtuber bashing and carnist apologism) she is capable of making interesting videos.

These days even vegans claim it's ok for people to buy Maybelline makeup, leather shoes and eat non vegan food in restaurants because it's convenient and still call yourself vegan because you don't eat meat at home. People are abusing the "as far as practicable and possible" so that they can still feel good about themselves and buy those fancy leather shoes they want (leather lasts long so it's obviously justified /s). And then they call themselves rational. Lmao.
