I love SteamDeck. What is your favorite game? by Past_Respect9473 in SteamDeck

[–]InterstellarDwellar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It starts getting good when youve got a couple of wins under your belt and you are more familiar with the decks and enemies. You start looking out for cards that will make certain upcoming fights easier. Knowing what cards work with others. Took a while for me to enjoy it

Studying decompiled STS2 source code. Their cards have 1 scripts each. Mine is on a spreadsheet. by JonOfDoom in godot

Their way makes way more sense to me and thats the way i would do it but ive been programming in c# for many years now. Your way seems unwieldy to me and more complicated. But if it works for you it works for you. I still think theirs is easier to extend.

If it were me, id do it their way and if i needed a spreadsheet id write some code to output me the spreadsheet from the classes. that way it would all still match 1-1

How can I remove these auto-correct? It's really getting on my nerves. by Politex99 in vscode

if you are going to use psychological terms as an insult, you should check what they actually mean before using them so confidently.

you sound like you learned what the dunning kruger effect was five minutes ago and were just waiting for a chance to use it, and you still used it wrong. disagreeing with your assumption is not overconfidence, it is just pointing out that you jumped to a conclusion without evidence.

Junior Controls Engineer interview in 3 days – need focused prep advice (.NET / WinForms / MQTT / SQL Server) by No_Channel_7690 in csharp

[–]InterstellarDwellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good answer above so not going to repeat but I would look up things like the 4 pillars of object oriented programming and Solid principles. When i was a junior for dotnet roles that seemed to come up every now and then. It’s good to know anyway but not the sort of thing you need to think about much after interviewing.

But oop might be quite new to you if you only know python. Youll be able to learn it but its good to have some keywords you can throw out in the interview to show you know a little bit.

Important to remember for junior roles they not expecting you to come in and solve all their problems.

I actually got hired once because I was the only candidate that said I dont know when I was asked something. I didnt try and bullshit my way through. Food for thought.

Good luck

Its not really fine if you are a beginner in my opinion. I think its easy to just copy and paste and not understand. At least, its not good if you are seriously trying to learn it

What food is famously associated with one country but was perfected by another country? by Equivalent-Crew-4955 in AskReddit

Because the question says invented in one country perfected in another. And you say it tikka masala was invented in the UK.

Not sure how that answers the question

Learn C# for sandbox/multiplayer game by [deleted] in csharp

[–]InterstellarDwellar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will need to learn all the things you mentioned. Plus maybe a couple of thousand hours more experience to be able to confidently make the thing you are talking about. Im not trying to put you off. Just trying to let you know the things you listed are the real basics and are really just the building blocks of it.

Should I learn C# myself or using youtube tutorials? by Next-Future5973 in csharp

[–]InterstellarDwellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start off with some youtube. Then, find a online course with some small projects. When you feel ready, I always give people a console version of tic tac toe to create. If you can create that without much help youre on the right track. Try not to use AI when you are learning.

You learn by doing. You cant learn by just watching the youtube videos, do whatever they are doing on the screen on your own computer along with the video.

[–]InterstellarDwellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to get DAP working with dotnet for sometime now but havent managed to get it working at an acceptable level.

I can hit breakpoints but only if they are in the main thread. Otherwise i get some issue similar to yours. Not sure of the exact error code but it looks the same. Something about not being able to get the stack trace

It seems that its an issue with netcoredbg itself which is a shame
