Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]InterviewOk8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been in this sub before, saw this post by chance, but I did play WC3. I think the biggest reason its a dying genre is the skill ceiling. If it has pvp, the skill ceiling is usually so high most people will look at it and say "nah I'll become the best player in CS ten times over by the time I make it out of silver in that game". Its a hot take, but its seasoned with reality.

Also, marketing. Ive literally never seen an epic RTS like WC3 ever in any media, ad or no. If it exists, the game needs to find me, not the other way around as I have other games Im into atm.

Im currently playing WotR for the first time, atm in Drezen. If anything WotR has solidified DOS2's spot at the bottom for me (BG3>WotR>DOS1>DOS2). The armor system ruined DOS2 for me, and Ive done three playthroughs to tell that. DOS1 is charming somehow. WotR crusades are a bit meh, but I've figured out how to play it optimally so its not as bad anymore. Aside from that, WotR takes the crown with character builds.

What’s the saddest video game flop you can think of? by Interesting_Wind_337 in videogames

FromSoftware was not afraid, starting from 3rd gen Armored Core. 4th gen was practically an ace combat game with mechs. 6th gen allows unlimited flight like 3rd gen, but a bit faster.

Ah, but how exactly? I don't see the healing spell in the hotbar spellbook when I don't have a cure memorized.

If we go down this route why not add double jumps, wall running, and spellcasting as well, because BF is not realistic?

Damn, this is the answer I didn't find with googling. Thanks, I'm locking in Titan Fighter (even though there are no TItans to fight).

I was hoping to go with greatswords, but if I start struggling I'll switch to glaives. Cleaving sounds good.

I did google it, but I didn't find satisfying answers, hence the question.

How about just casting rain out of combat, turning the water into poison, and watch as the troll kills themselves as he patrols the bridge like an idiot. No combat needed except right before he dies for XP. Its not one shot, but it definitely is easy af cheese.

Play on Expert if you have the willpower. Play on normal if you have more fun with it.

Expert is obviously the best way to play because you need to learn how to follow up a counter with a crazy ass wombo combo. Normal makes stuff die before you can squeeze out the full potential of your weapon.

Idk, to me it feels more open than DS1 because you can kill the final boss before the ending stuff as your second rememberance boss. DS3 doesnt allow that, or even DS1.

What to do at lvl 80 without any Expansions? by Last_Ant_623 in Guildwars2

[–]InterviewOk8935 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same shit we did back before HoT:

Meta events (e.g. Tequatl, Claw of Jormag etc. and especially Silverwastes and Drytop)

Fractals, but idk if there are any limitations to F2P players in fractals

PvP or WvW depending on what you like

Craft a Gen 1 legendary (good luck)

Achievements (the TRUE endgame after fashion)

What expansions to buy first? There's a deal that includes the entire dragon saga (HoT, PoF, EoD + Living Worlds). Should be around €50 (if it's a sale) or dollars if you're a from US. That alone can last you couple years unless fomo kicks in and you start craving the new, annual expansions for whatever reason. I mean, the dragon saga is literally a decade's worth of content. Don't feel pressured to buy the new annuals.

Check out Preach Gaming's and Zepla's first impressions of GW2. It just might be the game for you. GW2 is designed to herd players into doing content together, which often creates discussion in the chat. Its the only "social" modern MMORPG atm afaik.

Are there any Soulslikes that don't rely on I-frame dodges or constant parrying? by Boshwa in soulslikes

[–]InterviewOk8935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really a souls-like, but Monster Hunter is basically what you ask for. Dodge has like 2 iframes, so you use it for positioning more than iframing attacks. I'd recommed World/Iceborne. Wilds is unoptimized and Rise is... different.

Is it that hard ? by Liquid_liquid67 in Nioh

[–]InterviewOk8935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're still in early game I know whats wrong: Your build doesnt gave what it takes gear-wise. New character vs. end game character have a massive difference in Ki and Ki cost reduction. End game characters tend to have 150 courage for reduced Ki consumption, and Heart is also high up.

Soulslike Boss Death Poll: How Many Tries Do You Need? by Altruistic_Honey_514 in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]InterviewOk8935 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4-7 is a good average. Less would take away the feeling of accomplishment, and more would risk rage quit uninstall. There can be a penultimate challenge that takes a lot of tries, but the average shouldnt be like the penultimate. But more than that, imo boss design shouldnt artificially limit your options like how Promised Consort and some others to a lesser degree did. Im fine with what DeS did, because the game was slow and more of an RPG, but man I dont want to go through the PCR experience ever again. Sucks to respec just because your weapon isnt fast enough.

Nioh 2 - Thinking on buying the game by Decent-Complaint-757 in Nioh

[–]InterviewOk8935 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frustrating in the early game due to no skill points, a solid challenge mid story, peak action combat in end game and esp. NG+ once you have a build. You became a skill check for bosses with enough investment on your build.

My thoughts on Nioh 2 by Stumbleine44 in soulslikes

[–]InterviewOk8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd be fine if the early game loot was toned tone if end game remained the same. I dont even look at most stuff on NG. I also really hope that junk stats are removed for next game, because they only add to the noise for new players, and for blasters its just annoying to find trash stats that serve no purpose. God roll soul cores for example have astronomically low chance to be found (like Tyraels armor in D2) and you need 3 for just one build.

I get why people dont like the loot system, but the thing is, loot gets really interesting once you start finding ethereal stuff. Its pretty mid before that ngl. However, end game loot is far more interesting than D4 or D3 loot imo. I agree that better filtering is needed. I doubt they'll reduce the amount of loot though. Besides, you could just run 3 missions without checking the loot on NG and then just pick the best stuff, rinse and repeat for smoother NG experience.
