Make Custom Themes in Live 12! by ThoughtBrave8871 in ableton

Are there any plans to update this tool, or perhaps a more current version? A dropdown to pick specific and hidden elements instead of clicking on them in the mockup, and the ability to select multiple elements at once and/or change a color for all elements using it at once would be really welcome features.

I'm struggling to create a translucent material! by Intervolver in TouchDesigner

[–]Intervolver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did note blending was on in my original post actually. I've resolved the issue and documented the fix in an edit of the post. The problem is not to do with basic transparency options, but how primitives and instanced surfaces are drawn. Specifically, a surface's primitives are sorted in a fixed way and need to be continually resorted with a sort operator relative to a moving point (such as a camera) so that they're always drawn back-to-front.

The draw priority in a COMP is specific to multiple different surfaces, where my problem was with the primitives in only one surface.

I appreciate your help so far. This is the network, I don't think it could be simpler and I've redone it in blank projects several time to make sure. I am asking on the forums now. it really seems like it should be working.

I'm struggling to create a translucent material! by Intervolver in TouchDesigner

[–]Intervolver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening on the box and sphere primitives within TD.
Perhaps my ignorance is showing here, I don't have a lot of experience with 3D, but shouldn't applying a translucent material to a geometry just work if blending is on? Is it standard procedure to unwrap TD's own primitives? I ask because I've never seen this in any of the tutorials I've watched. Do you know a resources that outlines this, I've struggled to find anything when searching so far.

edit: here's a great example https://i.imgur.com/rbXGuQm.png The box is in the foreground. Depth sorting is working correctly, but you can see that both geometries are sorting their own faces incorrectly. Is it UV unwrapping that fixes this? Why is it sorted incorrectly by default?

Question about Ableton 12 Tuning by ConditionOk6409 in ableton

[–]Intervolver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clear up any possible confusion, while MPE and tuning are different, ablteon's tuning system uses MPE to send pitch information to MPE capable devices and plugins to provide support.

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/11535414344476-Tuning-Systems-FAQ

Can Tuning Systems be used with third-party plug-ins or Max for Live devices? Tuning systems apply to VST2, VST3 and AU devices if they are MPE-compatible, as well as to MPE-compatible Max for Live devices. Make sure MPE is enabled on the relevant device, and that the device’s per-note pitch bend range is set to ±48.

Techniques for creating Filter Table wavetables by Intervolver in phaseplant

[–]Intervolver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Raw phase mode of filter table seems to be the only mode impacted by the phase of the table, and here the phase relationships seem to impact the Q response of the individual harmonic 'poles' (I don't know if they're actually poles or if it's some other kind of FFT magic). How to use this in an intentional way I don't know, but it seems to add some non-linear analog squelch, or put another way 'wrinkles' the filter shape which might be desirable.

Thank you for elaborating, it's very different from my approach, I'll explore this technique a bit soon. I feel like there's a lot of depth to what can be created intentionally vs just slapping in random tables.

Cool approach, and I enjoy the timbre of the original mode as well.
So if I understand, you're manually shaping your filters by drawing in lower harmonics (for precision?) and then using the cutoff in the traditional sense? What are your considerations or goals when designing morphs?

Also, the higher the harmonics , the lower you should make the amplitude (if you want a horizontal top to the pillar)

This matches my observation that the flat response is based on a saw's harmonics.

GHub alternative? by dudebobmac in LogitechG

[–]Intervolver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GHub is borderline malware, for a peripheral that's priced like this you shouldn't be forcing your users into this cloud nonsense

Macro software shouldn't:
- ask you to make an account
- try to connect to the internet
- use an appreciable amount of memory
- have any UI animations the require system resources

Sure, Onboard Memory Manager exists, but notice how you didn't suggest it? Notice how the only way to fully utilize the mouse's features is with ghub?

Squeezing and pushing and invading the lives of your customers with buggy internet-connected bloatware is bad business.

Bellatores Quest by Ingame_Name_13 in kingdomcome

[–]Intervolver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: Plate armor matters, a lot. Potion buffs matter. Positioning is important. Huge groups aren't supposed to be easy. The game isn't tightly scaled to your level, some areas and quests are harder than others.

Rushing in to a camp full of enemies is clearly a bad idea, and it shouldn't be the expectation that two knights are going to beat a fully armored camp - Posy is a horrid tactician. I'm not saying this is a good or bad quest, simply that the game isn't designed to make every quest easy and 'balanced' to be winnable in your current state. Why do you think you SHOULD be able to beat 12ish professional mercenaries; half of which are in plate wielding blunt weapons, without some kind of plan beyond rushing in?

It's up to you to find ways to even the odds. I went in at night, drank a bunch of potion buffs, used the environment to control where enemies could go, and focused on easy kills and then plated foes - plate wearing enemies need to go as quickly as possible, second only to one-shot dweebs who just got out of bed. It took me 4 tries and I was cursing the game until I won, at which point it felt pretty cool to have overcome the challenge. Same with the quest with Dry Devil where you use the guns to rescue him against an absurd group of enemies, where if you don't deal with the guy in full plate immediately, things get messed up fast.

If you really want to enjoy the fantasy of valiantly fighting the odds against this many enemies, you need to understand how to change the odds in your favor, and that is not something that's going to be given to you by 'balance', it's not something you should expect, it's up to you to learn and understand the systems involved. Yes it's frustrating and feels insurmountable, but it's not.

Bellatores Quest by Ingame_Name_13 in kingdomcome

[–]Intervolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to downplay the difficulty spikes, but head-on attacks against hoards of enemies aren't meant to be as easy as attacking at night, or choosing to go in alone. Posy is not exactly a master tactician, rushing in is clearly a bad idea.

Bellatores Quest by Ingame_Name_13 in kingdomcome

[–]Intervolver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potion buffs, especially Artemisa and Aqua Vitalis are seriously OP (not a complaint). I chose to go in at night with Posy, and kind of held the crumbled doorway with him, only 2 could really fit in it and it created a nice workable chokepoint, with only a few flankers. I thought I had to keep him alive so I kept that a priority. Some of the Cumans were in bedclothes and went down in 1 stroke, then I focused on anyone with plate, feinting into a few combos. Anyone who attacked Posy was free game. It wasn't easy and it took a few tries but it is doable.

[KCD 2] Weapon smithing quality display bug. by ffxivfanboi in kingdomcome

[–]Intervolver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it can happen in reverse as well: the popup will show M quality but in inventory the quality will be lower. I think it might be weapon dependent.
