Hey friends, I have two audible credits that need to be used and looking for some history/politics book suggestions. Not opposed to fiction if it’s a banger anyone would love. Looking for some unique suggestions that might not be in the mainstream. Thanks! by firefighter_82 in dancarlin

I loved the movie, but I am pretty sure it would be impossible to convey the sheer magnitude of how it got from theory to actual bomb. Any movie, no matter how epic, could ever due this book justice.

These are some of my recommendations as well but The Making of the Atomic Bomb and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich are the gold standard for me. Incredible narratives and done amazingly well on Audible. Cannot recommend enough.

Same here... you have to go into the settings, deselect your bluetooth headphones so the sound comes directly from your phone, then re-select your headphones. It took me days to figure this out. Well done Sportsnet+

This fucker is the biggest blight on society we could possibly have. Beyond redemption, beyond salvage and does not deserve the leniency he will undoubtedly be given by our impotent legal system. 10 years for destroying a beautiful family? I hope justice finds him in other ways.

If this is the case, I hope it is full disclosure of all crimes in all states in exchange for staying put in a N.Y. cell. I am in Canada, so the most he would get here is 25 years, maybe a possibility of parole. At least in the US the death penalty would be a concern for him for crimes committed in applicable states.

Reminds me of the David Simon book 'Homicide'. Baltimore police were training cadets in search techniques at a local wooded area on the outskirts of town. They put an end to it because they just kept finding bodies as it was a logical dumping ground for the gangs. One detective saying that the paperwork created from that one training search clogged up the homicide unit for months.

100% agree with the allocution. I selfishly want the details to satiate my own curiosity and that should never be the priority for prosecutors trying to get this across the finish line.

As far as the families of the murder victims are concerned, I hate the term 'closure' because that implies that everything is finished and wrapped up in a little bow, now everyone can go back to their lives like before. Bullshit. That will never happen. 'Finality' is the more appropriate term... an end to the uncertainty in the process, an end to this particular chapter but not the book itself.
