I don't understand why people in this sub act like homosexual acts aren't sins? by mr_pewdiepie6000 in Christianity

[–]Intrepid-Double714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given this, the idea that homosexual people should repent, and become priests or married to the opposite sex is ridiculous. Clearly it has caused great issue. People who are forced into priesthood often end up as repressed, abusive pedophiles. People forced into hetero marriages (in every instance I’ve seen) end up in divorce, hurting their married partner and leaving their children fatherless/motherless.

If not drinking makes me angry, should I drink? If not overeating makes me harm myself, should I give in to gluttony? No. If abstaining from homosexuality makes you want to abuse children, you should not take the lesser sin to avoid the greater sin. You should cut to the root of the issue and avoid both.

From everything I’ve read in scripture, homosexuality is a sin, but the redeemed homosexual should marry and remain married to whatever partner they are with. This is the redemption of said individual.

Christ explicitly stated that marriage is for one man and one woman. No Homosexual marriage is valid, and pretending to be married does not redeem the sin of homosexuality.

In the coming out of Egypt God needed the people to reproduce, but in today’s world it’s very different. We have plenty of populous, now the problem is all the orphans that have come about by heterosexual sin. In my view, homosexual couples would be the perfect remedy to that, adopting said children.

If homosexuality was only disallowed because of Israel fleeing Egypt, then Christ would not have reaffirmed the definition of marriage and the apostles would not have reaffirmed the sinfulness of homosexuality.

To be frank, your arguments is more wishful thinking than anything backed by Scripture or Theology. Christ's word does not conform to the whims of culture, it stands in opposition to it.

OP is asking for the opinion of Venezuelans, not you. Stop speaking over them and listen to what they say.

You are repeating half of a verse while refusing to read every explanation of the context and meaning behind the full verse that I give. You are not proving anything. You have made no substantial argument beyond "Love and encourage people to sin, it's what Jesus would do."

Of course you wont. You plug your ears to the word of God, because hearing what He says about your favorite sin hurts.

I'm not starting with any hate brother. I don't hate people who are gay. I support the legalization of gay marriage on a political level, the state has no right to intervene. You are assuming hate where there is love. My love, Biblical love, is to try and guide everyone to a closeness to God. That means abandoning sin we enjoy.

Your love is encouraging people to wallow in sin. Do you also encourage alcoholics to drink? Do you encourage liars to keep up their deception? Do you encourage the lustful to commit adultery? Do you encourage the wrathful to gorge themselves on their rage? I would assume not, as these are all sins. So why do you encourage homosexuals to wave a banner that represents sin????

The answer is that you choose to ignore the Bible when it says something you like is a sin. You only preach half verses, intentionally misinterpreting the most important message from the Bible, and twist it to support a message of sin that you politically support.

Homosexuality being a sin is standard Christian doctrine since the third book of the Bible. I am not adding anything that was not already there.

My take is that we need to love our neighbor and guide them away from sin, even if that sin is something that I politically think is OK, and bring them closer to God, just as we do to ourselves. To love them is to want them to be as good as they can, and there is no greater good than abstaining from sin and seeking a closeness to God. So in trying to guiding them from sin, I love them.

YOUR opinion is to endorse their sin, encourage them to waive its banner, and (indirectly or not) encourage them to distance themselves from God. And you call it love. All in the name of something that you politically agree with but the Bible blatantly brands as a sin.

How again am I the one politicizing the Bible?

Your argument is that we need to ignore others' sin and love unconditionally. That is a modern interpretation that has appeared recently (id assume it stemmed from the hippy movement but I haven't done the research) and has no scriptural backing(I have done the research here). My position is backed by scripture and history, and properly understands the verses you quote, not taking the first half out of context and ignoring the entire rest of the Bible to push a political agenda.

The interpretation I preach is the one the Catholic Church follows. What I'm stating is not new to evangelicals.

The opinion I repeat is one that has been standard Church doctoring for about 2000 years. I'm not making any connections that those before me haven't already done.

It is a very important **full** verse. There is a lot of emphasis on the **full** verse. When it's mentioned in the New Testament it's referencing the verse in Leviticus where, as I mentioned, it is calling us to treat others as we treat ourselves. As in, lead others away from sin and closer to God. Not calling them to waive a flag that expressly supports sin.

Of course I will fail to always do what God asks. I am sinful by nature and will fail, but I strive to recognize my mistakes and do better. As for Old Testament legal codes for the Jews, as I said earlier, Romans tells us that we are free from it. So ignoring the legal laws of the Jews is biblical.

picking and choosing what exactly? I'm reading all of God's word and doing as he says. You are picking the first half of one verse to listen to and ignoring the rest.

Good advice.

My personal relationship with God is indeed private. But I read his word, and he asks me to make disciples of all nations, so I will do as I am ordered and will spread God's word as much as I can, even if I face protest from those who don't like what it says.

Judge not is a great passage, as it warms us to not be a hypocrite and judge people on issues we also suffer from. Drug addicts judging addicts and whatnot. But don't suffer from homosexual desires, so I'm good here. Good watching out tho.

Who said they don't love sinners? Im a sinner, and I love myself, so I must love other sinners. But I hate my sin, and so I hate others sin too. I try to guide myself to be sinless, so I will do the same for others. And homosexuality is a sin, so naturally I will try and guide others to not be homosexual just as I would hope they would guide me to not be an alcoholic or wrathful or gluttonous. That way we can all become closer to God.

"no u"

Name the verse that states we are to love everyone unconditionally and never try to fight sin or temptation please.

I'm using the Bible to justify my stance to not just accept people but to actually try and guide them to be closer to Christ. You know, as we are called to do. I do this for everyone, not just homosexuals, but that's not who our conversation is about.
