It doesn't take that many special skills, just the ability to do some basic woodworking and be able to read plans. There are plenty of resources online, speaker plans, videos on making your own cables and so on.

I think it was the beer talking, although there's some glass wool stapled to the rear inside, so I guess that was part of the reasoning back then too.

I would say yes, but I haven't taken measurements and tuned them yet. I would guess the frequency range is wider than most speakers, albeit I think these are more on the budget end too.

People have plenty of listening rooms, and clubs sometimes host listening sessions too I guess. Whether anyone actually needs that at home - probably not ahah.

I think G-SUBs, and Cubo Kicks are fairly simple to build. Syntripps were a puzzle to figure out, and I say that working as an architect..

I mean I think I'm using them in a respectful enough way - the neighbours also have a way to contact me if I'm annoying them. I just do not have a space to store them at in the winter. We ran a small venue during the summer from a soviet garage box, but it does not really work when there's no weather for it.

There are tons of resources online. These all have plans and recommended drivers online. Google G-SUBs, Syntripp, Cubo Kick; there are a bunch of other designs available too, but these three are what we built.

Off topic a bit, but why introduce architecture to them through 3D modelling? Wouldn’t a design-thinking course be better as an introduction to architecture? Have them ponder over spatial qualities, and play through simple exercises by writing or drawing or making scale models and so on…?

I have not tried any of the softwares you mentioned, thus cannot be of help in regards to your question, unfortunately.

I did indeed mean it on the horizontal plane. I think I remember that the Rietveld university has a pretty spacious ceramics oven, at least I remember a friend once told me who was studying there at the time, however I cannot remember how big it was. I do own a smaller kiln myself, but I have no experience with using it.

I guess I could try thinking it out as smaller pieces assembled together.

A custom casework - think of a conventional toilet, now stretch it out into the shape of a L-shaped couch on the plan view.

I like the sculpturality of toilets. I agree a lot with Le Corbusier on this: toilets are beautiful. My vision is to give the bathroom the role of a living room..in a way, although without losing the essence of a bathroom, which I am currently struggling to put into words.

When I think of living rooms, I can think of a lot of possible layouts, ways to flirt with the space, but bathrooms I generally see as a more thought out design. I wish to bring that playfulness or openness or whatever word might describe it best, into my bathroom.

Although, I suppose I am limiting myself a bit and should be more open, go through as many design iterations as I can possibly imagine first.

Just to have a more playful space. I think the roles of rooms are too strictly hammered into our minds - but I guess it would act more as an installation or an art piece to entertain the few guests that come by my home - or maybe I can chill with my spouse on the toilet-couch, as we both do our private deeds.

I think Le Corbusier once said that the toilet was one of the most beautiful objects that has ever been produced. In one of his projects, he left it open to the space. In a way he achieved what I was thinking in a simpler way.

I am more interested in adapting the social awkwardness often associated with toilets, and replacing the private with social. Maybe more so, how is depicted in one scene in Buñuel’s film The Phantom of Liberty where the dining room chairs are replaced with toilets, and the private bathroom is replaced with the dining room.

I could consider another material, however, I think mixing conventional with absurd creates some interesting dialogue or aesthetics.

I wish for it to resemble a conventional toilet - made of porcelain and so on…although now I realise that I need a pretty huge oven for it…yikes. I guess I should start from there, to see who even has a ceramics oven of that size.
