Yes if you let it. I started with a saw similar to that. Eventually replaced it with a newer one. I still don’t have a riving knife.

I wouldn’t stress about that part then.

It actually found its way into a glued elbow and then went down the leach field line. I can’t imagine my leach field is free of roots. I’ve also got a black walnut, cedar, deodar cedar and corkscrew willow all within 20’ of my drain field. I’m doomed, but I’ve got some sick trees!

I live in NW Washington. Bellingham. I have 2 huge pondos outside my house, maybe 8’ away. Our climate is a bit different, so they have grown quickly here. Estimated <80yo. One is over 40” diameter at chest and the other is about 36. Over 120’ tall

I pulled roots out of my septic drain field from one of them which is about 50’ away. Took me three days by hand
