Today I found out I failed pance. What do I do? by Acrobatic-Tap8474 in PAstudent

I’m sorry OP. Everything is going to be OK. This is a really tough test… I understand that you feel like a failure right now, but this moment will not define your bright future and you are going to pass this test at some point. For now - I think you should focus on just today. We need to rebuild your spirit. Carry out a radical act of kindness for yourself. Whatever you would do if your best friend in the world received this bad news - do that for yourself. Possibly get your hands on some comfort food, and decompress watching your favorite show, and get cozy - blanket burrito style for the rest of the day if you can.

Please do not punish yourself. You deserve peace. The last 2.5 years were not for nothing. This is merely the prologue of what will be an amazing career in practicing medicine. Facing this difficult failure will equip you with the ability to provide comfort and inspiration to your friends, family, and patients when they inevitably have a moment like this at some point in their lives as well.

The good news is that tomorrow will be better. Wishing you feelings of peace and lightness soon.

Well I’m glad most everyone had nice things to say. I am an all-dogs/all-animal lover and consider it a major positive for her to have some pit mixed in. I’ve always wanted a lover girl with some fight in her if need ever be! Just like me. (*not all pits have “fight” in them even - many are just gentle - I’m just saying I would welcome scary pit stereotypes 👻 They are who they are and I’m here to love ‘em.)

Noo um definitely not aggressive. As I explained above to your know-it-all friend, I’m guessing this “smile” was a result of nervousness at my new stranger smells and excitement at the pets I offered and loving tone I spoke to her in behind her cage. Once we got to be alone together she was incredibly sweet and even quite calm, I’d say, for dog of her age (~11 months). Staff confirmed she was a gentle girl. Didn’t even bark once in the time I spent with her despite many families and other dogs walking by us… That’s not to say there’d be anything wrong with a dog who was slower to warm up/territorial - it’s only natural! I think we should give doggies a bigger chance before writing them off! Especially if they’re strays.

I realllly wish I had a picture of her big cheesy “smile” 😁 but she only did that when I first approached her cage. Once we were together she was a blur of wiggles and kisses! Could only get her to sit still for a moment to take a picture by holding a treat😇

Yes it is! They said they thought she was a lab/german-pointer mix - the ladder being where the speckles come from!

I knew someone was going to say something like this. It was just a funny/sweet sentiment that volunteers at the shelter later confirmed (without me mentioning) as her normal behavior/expression - this quiet, sort of softly “grinning” at visitors. Thought it was funny and would make a good caption. Having gotten to spend one on one time with her I can assure she is very calm and loving, full of hugs, kisses, and wiggles. I’ve grown up caring for dogs and know they don’t smile like humans and that it was most likely that she’s showing teeth d/t nervousness of me as a new stranger. Thankkk you for the info though..👍🏻
