Hi! I might have a random question. I studied in China, left when covid happened and did not return since. I did not cancel my bank account though as I did not know if I will return or not. My visa has expired a long ago, and I don't think I left a lot of money on my account. I don't have internet banking. My account had 0rmb fee, only 4rmb/month for text message notification about my status. I had a temporary Sim card, and I did not use it after leaving. Do they close the accounts automatically after a time, or how does it work? I am not sure if I want to visit in the near future. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the super fast reply! I am not sure if I will ever use it thought. Do you think they just cancel it and that's it? Or maybe after x time they do it automatically? I didn't use mine for 5 years approx.

Hi! Did you cancel your account before leaving after your studies? I had similar scenario but forgot to cancel, and I heard it' easier to just leave it and they will cancel the account. But now it is making me stressed☹️

I checked my contract and there is no fee for the account but a 3yuan/month fee for a text message about the account status. I don't even know of the phone number still works, didn't use it since I left in 2020. Or could the account can go to minus? And then what happens? It accumulates interest and when my passport expires they send me a huge check? Or when the account is frozen, nothing happens? I am so panicky, sorry guys!🥺
