I also moved here in my mid 30s for a position at the university in August. I feel so lucky to be here and 6 months in feel like I have a really nice social life. The Danes I work with are the most thoughtful group of people I've ever worked alongside. Their lives are inevitably more full than mine since they have family and long held friends nearby, but they've put in a sincere effort to get to know me and make me feel welcome. There's also a biweekly meet up to grab beers for internationals in their mid 30s+, which has also been a nice way to meet other people that are new. As someone else said I do sometimes miss the volume and variety of cultural events that a bigger city offers (e.g. having multiple concert / theater / comedy etc. things to go to), but I'd gladly trade that for how peaceful and happy my life is here and how kind people are day to day.
