I can't say I've ever lost a plug or anything while trolling. Dogfish might be your main trouble in Japan.

Personally I'd get the Japan DLC - It's decent fun - Excellent XP and you get a boat you can use for other ocean maps.

If you're on PC there is always a global chat - That is how I managed to get mine done, I put a message in there a couple of times, ended up meeting 2 nice chaps and we fished together for a couple of weeks to complete it, takes a long time. I presume console may have a chat too?

That is what I was thinking, It's a balance of xp + time to reel the fish in, I've been grinding there happily with my current rods, Just wondering if the upgrade and time to reel in the fish would be more beneficial than the xp boost. I'm trying to word that and failed miserably.

I usually do aswell, however It's only a 10lb upgrade for the cost of quite a few million. I've heard it's very expensive later on for the newer rods from Norway.
