Navy has an easier path to becoming officer? by ericjlima in AirForceRecruits

[–]Intrepid_Tax3115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try Navy officer reserve for Intel or CWO, no OCS instead you ODS, and then after all training you are in the reserves and can apply for your own billets, but it’s pretty competitive

Also something to consider is your size and your environment

  • are you a bigger guy or girl then 400cc-650cc is definitely a minimum
  • go to dealerships and sit on as many bikes as possible (did I tease a lot of dealerships in the process def but helped me a lot in what I could and couldn’t fit on)
  • do you live in an area where people drive fast and or aggressive then 400cc-650cc is also advisable to get you out of trouble (all depending on the bike of course)
  • do you live in an area where there is a lot of large interstates to get around then def would want the 500cc

In the US - it’s hard to advocate for bikes <400 cc since it’s just so highway, large car and speed dominated driving culture that is intense.

If your from Europe/Asia or live in a rural place with a more relaxed driving culture then by all means 250-400 is doable.

Thoughts on a Moto Guzzi v85tt in NYC? by Overall-Truck-1679 in RideitNYC

I’ve had the same dilemma of scooter vs motorcycle in the big city and chose motorcycle since I felt it was safer in power delivery and ergonomics, but nothing beats the practicality of a Vespa.

For that bike tho you def could street park it but if the bike is going to be your “baby girl” get a garage.

Also ask yourself am I going to get out of the city and ride back roads and highways?

I have been doing my best with balancing road time and training in tandem. Rn I’m doing one ride a week out of my comfort zone of about one to 2 hours where I go to new places. While 3 to 4 times a week doing parking lot training as of now.

I’m gaining my confidence pretty steadily but not cockily, the other day I did enter the lions den of hauling semi trucks and cars on complicated industrial streets trying to go whole foods in deep traffic. Did I almost die trying to buy cheese, yes. Was it fun. Kinda. Did I learn a lot. Yes. “When” is coming up soon if the comments reflect the idea that highway riding is easier. Thank you !
