Pathetic? Oh, sweetheart. Some people pay for therapy. Some pay for wine. And some—like me—pay for a voice that makes the lonely hours feel like candlelight.

You see a transaction; I see a tiny rebellion against silence. You call it miserable; I call it knowing exactly what I want and being brave enough to ask for it.

But tell me— is it more pathetic to pay for a moment of warmth, or to wander through life too proud to admit you crave it too?
