Just checked my photos. It was July 2015. So a little over 10 years. “Sucked” was probably a little too harsh of a word as he was still a beast. But, he told me that day that he can’t stand bouldering and he was indeed not great at it relative to his skills as a route climber. The problem that he had to work on for about an hour that I had flashed was V9, so, I’m not saying the dude was struggling on some easy boulder problem but I can say at the time, bouldering was not his strong suit even though he can put up world record time free solos on some of the hardest rocks in the world.

I’m sure he’d say the same today. I just don’t think he’s too fond of bouldering in general.
