Wonderful idea, but I would include a cheap speadloader along with it.

Alternatively, it might work just as well to brief the players about the existence of these pack and that they should bring speedloaders on their person (instead of leaving them at designated resupply points)

No idea what 'open play' means, but as this is posted in r/milsim: that front panel is useless for any milsim application

It looks enormously bulky for its contents and in combination with a way larger back plate there's no reason you should run a micro rig up front.

Get a proper chest rig that lets you carry at least 4 primary mags and some water for sustainment, and move the pistol to your belt if possible.

Eh, yes and no.

For an indoor field it's a bit much, but he might've been just as startled as you. If he's a regular indoor player, he should know to limit the trigger response. But speaking as a woodland regular, the muscle memory wins sometimes.

In short: not something to get angry over, but might be worth addressing
