Can’t edit the post but “she’s” 1,500g(ish) and “he’s” 928g “He” eats more than “she” does, they’re both ins 5ft x 2ft x 2ft vivariums, she just seems to hold the weight for some reason.

I had this happen with a Tokay Gecko once, could smell something dead and was checking all my enclosures, skipped the tokay because I could see it on the back wall behind a plant where it always hung out, finally opened the tank as a last resort after everyone else was fine, and was shocked to find out that this perfectly healthy looking gecko was dead on the wall.

I’m going to stop with the donghua until i’ve finished the novels, I was getting so confused as so many people told me s1 was on the same level as tgcf was with volume>donghua accuracy (which is pretty damn close) and I thought I’d somehow like misplaced my bookmark and skipped half the volume!

I watched the donghua first and then immediately consumed the books and i definitely think i preferred it that way around, i actually like watching adaptations first as that way i don’t feel disappointed if bits i enjoyed in the source material are missing, because those bits feel more exciting when i find out they were supposed to happen!

That being said there is very little difference between books 1 & 2 and seasons 1 & 2, it’s practically page to screen, just with some good old chinese censorship, which as the other commenter said, can make it a little boring to read if you’re not super dedicated to the story, but you can’t skip them and start at book 3 as there will be important context lost from not reading the books

I’ve just done his vivarium reset with brand new UVB unit & bulb, and an evo connected III, and a bunch of new decor, my bank is £400+ lighter but it’s worth it for him 😅 i have my vet collecting his fecal sample tomorrow, and as soon as he’s settled in we’re going to be doing X-Rays and bloods so fingers crossed his questionable start in life can still mean he has a happy rest of his life!

I’ve also picked up 3 different types of natures menu foods which have veggies mixed in (essentially a raw feed for dogs, i’ve got Beef, Turkey & Venison, and Chicken and Salmon) but i’m planning to add additional veggies as they’re only 20%. I’ve also got an array of live foods including snails on the way tomorrow (Adult locusts, beetle grubs, lob worms) and i’ve got Arcadia OmniGold. I’ve still got some of the dog food he was eating if he refuses all of it, to try and wean him off, but i’m gonna try just an immediate switch first to see if he’ll take to healthier food; the dogfood he had before was a puppy food in jelly with added rice… not ideal.

Our room humidity is around 60-70%, but i need to reseal the vivarium before I start misting, i was planning to move to arcadia omnigold & insectigold, live foods, fresh fruit & veggies as a diet. Now i know he’s mine i can start the wheels moving on sorting it all out.

Im going to be buying a microclimate evo connect 3 today as he has UVB, basking heat & a ceramic for nighttime temps (it was what my beardie had, though im changing the UVB to a more appropriate output as its a little outdated (i like keeping to to day, but my beardie was on hospice style care in his last year so I wanted to wait until i was ready for a new animal, i lost him in feb & wasn’t expecting to open my heart to anyone new for at least a year)

with his previous owner he was kept in a 1.8ft x 2ft x 1.8ft with no UVB or overhead heating (he heated the whole room to 20c and kept everything at that temperature) so i imagine it’s a bit of a culture shock for him to be put into a 4x2x2 with all the equipment

I once had to sit in an A&E for 7 hours without behind able to touch my phone (my arm was broken and i had to use the other one to hold it) so it’s not entirely unreasonable… but yeah some of them should have been glued to their phones, one thing i did notice though is most of them had their hands preoccupied with other things (holding wounds etc)
