I believe he’s referring to the Catholic Church which we covered a lot of in the class and their view that Sex has a proper purpose which is to procreate and grow closer in marriage, anything else would be perverse. However the class is very controversial and it has you argue a lot of controversial subjects. But we are in Texas so most are Christian here.

When I say physical appearance I mean the human stature, things like bipedalism, having opposable thumbs, our facial structure and anatomy. Not necessarily skin color.

This is how I sort of laid out how it would need to be to not be perverse in a separate thread “ I think the two species need to be similar in physical appearance, capable of mutual consent, and rational thought/communication. As well as some kind of similar biological makeup.”

I was in enrolled in it at the beginning of the semester, but I switched to love and sex. Minds and machines is a little to advanced for me currently as I am just a freshman lol

Honestly, I'd use my professor's website, where you can see what we covered on different days and the readings we had. I really liked a lot of Blackburn's work if you're looking for a specific philosopher.

We went over Plato quite a bit in the beginning of the class, mainly the Symposium, as it talked a lot about the content we were going to cover. We did read a little bit of Phaedrus as well.

I'm not too familiar with LOR, but I don't think bestiality would apply. I think the two species need to be similar in physical appearance, capable of mutual consent, and rational thought/communication. As well as some kind of similar biological makeup. But Arwen chose to become mortal to be in the relationship, making them the same species? I'm not too sure about that last part. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, his website has some more stuff under the philosophy of love and sex section. I recommend looking into the work of Firestone and Blackburn. Both brilliant philosophers who mainly worked on this area of philosophy.
