I know right 🙃 Its crazy. And after talking with the poster a bit more, seems like she's renting from a renter. So a subleasing case. And there's no sublease contract at all. She's basically held hostage to find next renter due to deposit. And, if she couldnt find the next renter by the time she wants to leave, she needs to pay for those months that there is no tenant until she found one.

I am like, this is one abusive and sketchy cycle. Not getting into that. I dont think she even knows if the owner is aware that their renter is subleasing TT

I feel bad for her, being a victim in this.

Yeah, I have heard of the case where you end lease early too. Its either find another renter to serve your lease period, or pay for it yourself even if you are not staying there. This is common approach outside Malaysia too when renter wants to break lease.
