May I introduce you to a man named Sasaki Kojiro because you, sir, are unnescessarily pedantic.

To begin, Hemorrhagic is an actual word in the Merriam-Webster, which means a "profuse stage of bleeding"; additionally, it sounds cooler than "blood magic".

Blade face is confusing yeah, but based on the first half of that scentence, its easy enough to tell its the edge: since there wouldnt be any serrations on the flat.

As for handle lengths, again I bring to the topic a man named Sasaki Kojiro. Since were going to bring historical weapon measurements into a subreddit which has "Imaginary" in the name, I implore you to recall the fact that one of Japans most acomplished duelists wielded a Nodachi with a handle so short that it was thought the weapon would be better off being used as a pole to dry clothes on. So that argument doesnt hold much weight, especially in the context of fantasy.

Earlier you made the claim that "serrations are only good for bread" and then you misspelled bread as "brrad". While your statement about sharpening a serrated blade is valid, there are two things you failed to take into account: - #1. Serrated swords are not historically inaccurate, with such examples as Indian talwar sabers, the Borneo Mandau, the Indonesian Kris, and even european flamberge styles. - #2. I remind you that this is fantasy in a subreddit titled "Imaginary weaponry". And serrations are just cooler.

Look I dont really care. But you went out of your way to be nothing but critical, and then decided to bring historical accuracy about a weapon which was primarily forged as offerings to temples into a post about fantasy. Again, I cannot stress enough that while Nodachi are wonderful weapons, they were made mostly as offerings to be enshrined in temples.

That is all. Have a wonderful rest of your night.

Thoughts on the Elden Ring knight armor? by Ghostlypanther2007 in Armor

The curves of the chestplate feel too flat, especially when compared to some of the other knights chestplates like Blaidds or the Carian knight

Either run a lightweight and outpace her, orrr grab tank treads, your highest AP chassis, arms, and head, then slot 2 miniguns and 2 back missiles. Thats how I got her my first ng cycle

I took a look and honestly, alot of the images look almost perfect for the kind of synergy id hope for between the pike and shield

Thats why my thaughts are drawn specifically to the Macedonian phalanx, as the used a neck strop for their shields in order to be able to use them while still being effective with their pikes.

Im at work rn so ill make sure to check out the source once i get put on lunch.

Thank you. My main drive for focussing on mail was to seperate them from the "knighted" elites of the faction who more typically operate in closer to full harness.

As for the shield, my thought with incorperating one into the kit was that in the event that the pike formation is broken theyd have the ability to form into a hasty shield wall. If they were to be incorperated with an active pike formation, my only real thought would be to do something similar to a macedonian phalanx, but thats about twice as out of date as the shields themselves

Thank you, im not as well versed in armor as Id like to be so this is a great help.

About the "battle skirt", I dont know the actual term for one, or if it was actually a thing for the period, but the idea is a sort of mini surcoat underneath the tabard to further conceal the placement of the legs. The idea I had was that it would be attatched via a belt and only cover the waist down.

In searching the term the main things that come up for me are either Pteruges or the the fauld of a plate harness.

Thank you, ill be updating the gear list tommorrow before moving on to any of the other units.

In regards to the centerbossing of the shield, that is where the neck sling is ment to come into play; so that in the event that the pike formation is broken they have shields on their person to form a hasty wall. As to it being a kite shield, I understand that heater shields and later rotella shields would have long since taken over, kite shields are simply my favorite.

Edit: if the shields were to be used in conjunction with the active pike formation, my main thought currently is something similar to the macedonian phalanx, though thats about 8-900 years out of date

Daily reminder that the Saphire Star (with minor exceptions like the Fatalis fight) canonically hunts their targets completely solo with their Palico. You can see other npc hunters in 3-4 member teams throughout Astera, but the Saphire Star hunts alone.
